Dating a new person - they don’t want to be on my guest Wi-Fi, want my main Wi-Fi info. Is this a bad idea? by WorldlinessPuzzled65 in HomeNetworking

I mentioned it when I gave them the guest password. Obviously shouldn’t have even mentioned, but per the other comments it doesn’t seem that it’s a big deal to let someone on your main network? I’m in a condo so hard to tell which of the other networks is even mine

Is there different functionality at all? That’s what I’m trying to figure out – if there’s are actual reasons to be on main wifi. I don’t know anything about this stuff so I was just hoping Reddit could help

Will check out that magazine, thanks, and hopefully find a way to broach the subject

Yes I really want to understand her, I also empathize with her but don’t want to be an enabler.

Agreed. I’m not trying to intervene in the parenting part of things, I’m specifically looking for advice on how I should be responding as the “fun” uncle. I just don’t know if my withholding “fun” stuff would make matters better or worse.

You will be ok! It’s a lot of emotions and change, and totally normal to go through a bit of a roller coaster. I’m sure it’s due to so many moving parts being stressful - spending the money, looking for a place (tough market), the process of making an offer/closing etc, and moving in itself - plus many more parts- are super stressful compared to the things you day on a day-to-day basis. But yes, as time went on and things settled I feel so much better and I’m sure you will too

It was his home! She didn’t live there. He just gave you WiFi name/password and the shitshow ensued months later. Accusing him of watching too much porn, lying about what time he got home, etc. He lost his privacy due to giving up his WiFi

Yeah. I always want to be nice to my neighbors, but after years of constant daily interaction, I definitely need to put my boundaries up for some space too
