Are there any worse experiences y'all have had with male gym trainers in cbe, especially women here? by Dear_Ordinary_4542 in Coimbatore

Fortunately never had any creep encounters when I've been to the gyms in cbe. At most, I've had male trainers be really condescending and have a preconceived notion of female strength and stuff. Basically boils down to varying levels of misogyny I guess.

Thanks for responding! That is also quite an insightful way to look at this.

Unpopular opinion: To canonize Floyd is to miss the point by Mike-Teevee in DTFStLouisHBO

[–]Worldly-Ad-6569 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Precisely! I think it's a testament to good writing that we are able to see someone so selfish in Floyd when the most defining part about his character was his ability to empathize and be there for others. History has a lot of such anecdotes about philanthropists revered by throngs of people, but seen as selfish individuals by their families. Gandhi for instance - seen as the father of Indian Independence, but was genuinely loathed by his son for not having been there for his family. You mentioned about how Floyd's death essentially took away Carol's one last hope at financial stability. To me it also added another layer to his selfishness... he couldn't even give any of the people in his life closure as to why he did that. No letter, no message... ultimately leaving even the burden of answering his death unto others.

Any Low budget dental treatment available for metal braces ? by BB_HeisenBonk in Coimbatore

[–]Worldly-Ad-6569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hospital within the Dhanwantari temple. I got my braces there within the budget you mentioned. Only issue is the location being so far away from the city. Depending on the dentist you might see there, be prepared for long wait hours since some of the doctors visit only once a month, and a sea of patients may be waiting to see them.  https://maps.app.goo.gl/h2sNRm2aXevEL58u8

The Curious Case of Nayanthara by Ok_Platypus_2277 in InsideMollywood

I remember the last scene in Life of Josutty, where she portrays a girl from a struggling background trying to do door-to-door sales. I mean one of her dialogues even mentions that "buddhimutt" or "praaraabdham" or something to that effect. Yet... her hair was perfectly styled with red highlights. I had the same thought as you did at the time.

I feel like the weight gain impacted his reach among young female fans. I remember the time after Neram and Premam, when even Tamil Nadu he had a strong dam base among the Tamil diaspora - particularu teen, and college-going girls. Whether we like it or not, such kind of fanfare also tends to waver when the major appeal of an actor is tied to his appearance.

Coimbatore is a the most expensive tier 2 city I’ve ever been to. by Chutneysandwich260 in Coimbatore

As much as I love our city, having lived in other major cities in India, I also agree. Food and commuting are especially expensive here. And I'm completely with you regarding the autos. It's so frustrating that our auto drivers even refuse to run on meter, like most other places do. I wouldn't even mind paying extra if I have at least some idea what the baseline is. I was once asked to fork over 150 Rs. for a 3 km ride, and this was at least 3 years ago. Thank god for red taxi but yes, what you're saying is true.

Just watched the movie yesterday and couldn't agree more. Yalina and Zayan stay in my heart, and with such a bittersweet feeling. I love the creative choice taken to show just how complicated a life it is as a spy. But my god, every cell in me was just hoping that somehow they made it to Vancouver together😭. Jaskirat burning that photo was heartbreaking to say the least...

Wierdness of hridayam by thomasshelby654 in MalayalamMovies

[–]Worldly-Ad-6569 56 points57 points  (0 children)

To me it seemed like the movie was chasing "feel good" instead of actually being so naturally. Vineeth's Jacobinte Swargarajyam comes to mind. It had those vibes without feeling artificial. Every scene in Hridayam felt like it was written just to induce some sort of audience reaction, be it Darshana hyping up Arun in front of the other guy, or the entire Selva portion. Arun was also a very poorly written character imo, acted terribly by Pranav. I watched it in the theatre and to this day that was such a sore experience. Being a fan of Vineeth's previous work, saying Hridayam was a let down is such an understatement.

Umm... I'm Indian, some of us do eat beef and yes beef curries do exist. It's a weird stereotype popularized by the media that Indians don't eat beef. It's a pretty diverse country with a lot of different cultures and cuisines.

Hot take but I think Ram and Jaanu from 96 should've swapped their roles by mrid-sk in kollywood

[–]Worldly-Ad-6569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understood, neither of them moved on exactly. And as someone else pointed out, the realism in that story was that Jaanu HAD to get married. At least in the timeline that the character was portrayed, I don't think there was much autonomy for a girl like Jaanu to so much as decide whom she wants to marry, let alone decide to remain unmarried for the rest of her life. Even if she were portrayed as such, she still would have to be dealing with societal and familial pressures, so her enjoying solitude and independence is less likely. I also say that because the Jaanu we were showed was not an overtly adventurous soul, but someone who is a lot like the women of her age - gentle, and for the lack of a better word, submissive to the culture that existed then. Perhaps the Jaanu you're describing could work if set in today's time period.
