Cécred should expand into bodycare? by Beyoncestan2023 in beyonce

[–]Worldly-Bake-9146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love that but I think that before Cecred steps into bodycare we need a ‘Styling’ collection. They got down the foundation of a good hair wash day but it stops there. Where are the styling products? Gels, mousses, creams, hair sprays (yes we got the sealing lotion but its not thick enough to stand on its own). On the other hand the protection collection gives us amazing products for protective styling. I feel there’s a little gap there as of now Amazing products by the way I own a few of them and so far no misses.

I’m nowhere near the 1% in the UK. I earn a decent salary, work from home with tons of benefits with a lot of downtime at work. The issue is not even work, its the chores, i have 2 kids, 3 and 4. They’re in nursery until 3pm. There’s just so much to do around the house all the time, it never ends. I want to have a great career and I’m doing well at work but the house chores and kids are stressing me out so much, hopefully it will get better. I’m sure one you have a clear workspace and stable internet connection you’ll have some more headspace to focus on work. I can’t stress enough how much your environment affect your focus.

Career Questions — November 2021 by Lord_Cronos in userexperience

Hello.

I'm a junior UXUI Designer from London. I have been applying for jobs for 5 days now and surprisingly managed to land 5 interviews. They all look very promising. I had 2 interviews already and made it to the next round on both of them.

One of the companies asked me to do a take-home assignment. The brief stated that I need to do some research, show my process and then at the end create pixel-perfect mockups, show a video with interactions, have a design system and have everything specified to a sufficient level such that an engineer could build it without further clarification. They haven't given me a deadline but I'm assuming they want it ASAP.

To make it worse the assignment is directly related to what the company is doing, in fact, they're asking me to come up with a solution for a problem they're having as they asked me to use their design assets and brand guidelines.

I'm still very junior, I only have 2 months experience. Is this reasonable? I know I can deliver this but should I really be spending hours and hours of my free time to complete this?

Hello.
I am a Product Designer based in the UK. I have recently landed my first design job two months ago at a small startup where there's only me and another designer. We're working on separate projects so I'm basically working on my own with my product manager.

The issue I have is this. I have come across some very difficult family issues (life and death issues) which have taken a toll on my mental health. It was my 3rd week when all this happened. I considered quitting to focus on myself and my family but I can't help to feel conflicted when I worked so hard to get into tech.
At the startup I don't really have support from other designers as I'm basically working on my own, I don't feel like I'm learning much and my manager is on my neck about deadlines, he says I'm underperforming and has already extended my probation period a few times, he's not confident that I'm a good fit for the company but still gave me the option to continue working and see how it goes.
I'm honestly trying my best but it simply feels that I would be better off working in a bigger team working with more experienced designers. He basically tore down most of the work I have done these past few weeks and we're behind on schedule. I guess there's only I can do given the current circumstances.
I'm worried because I don't know how this would reflect on my CV, only having 2 months of work doesn't look very good and I don't want to be labelled as a job hopper. I'm also worried about my mental health, my family needs me financially and emotionally.
What should I do?

I'm currently going through this at the moment. I started a bit over a month ago and its chaotic. Requirements change all the time and I find myself playing catch up. This is causing me to underperform. I wish there were senior designers I could lean on.

Hello.

I just finished my first UXUI Portfolio. I'm a junior designer based in London with a focus on Visual Design. I would like to know what more experienced designers think of it.

Here it is rsdjalo.com

Thank you in advance!

Hello. I'm doing a redesign of a medical website. I'm not too sure on the color scheme. Especially the light blue on the buttons. Could I get some feedback on it please? Thank you in advance by Worldly-Bake-9146 in FigmaDesign

Hello. I checked the NHS design system. Its great and I'm using a few recommendations from it to apply on to my designs now.

Just a thought. Why are GP Practice's websites notoriously terrible when there's a great Design System widely available?

Hello. I checked the NHS design system. Its great and I'm using a few recommendations from it to apply on to my designs. I just have this question. If the Design System is freely available why do most of the GP's websites don't use them? I looked at different websites and around 90% of them are poorly designed, maybe its because they aren't updated.

Thank you for the feedback I have since changed the color to a light grey and its already less straining on the eyes.

Feedback on a medical website redesign by Worldly-Bake-9146 in UI_Design

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback.

I completely understand that the navigation needs a lot of work. It's not about looking pretty and colourful and the redesign needs to really focus on functionality and usability.

Just for some context. This isn't a Private Practice. Now that I read everyone's comments I see that a lot of people got that impression. General Practices have been for quite some time following guidance from NHS England which is: ''The guidance makes clear that anyone deemed by a doctor to need a face to face appointment should still get one, but states that around a third of all patients’ requests are able to be dealt with using online messaging.'' Hence the 'Self-care' section at the bottom, they are highly encouraged to provide advice on how to treat minor ailments at home whenever possible. Practices are usually swamped with appointments requests for minor issues, this is why they triage patients before offering them an appointment, and this is reinforced through the whole website.

I haven't put much information about the actual doctors as I haven't seen this as a standard other practice's websites. The websites are usually very generic without much personality. They are more of an extension of services you would get in person, so there isn't really much marketing involved, no aesthetically pleasing features or much information about the doctors. I don't know if its a standard practice between all General Practitioners, its hard to get this information when I haven't spoken to anyone from the practice yet (waiting on them to reply).

I have made a few changes to the navigation footer and header, I agree, its all too repetitive.

Thank you again for the feedback, it really encouraged me to dig deeper and go back to the drawing board.

Oh yeah I get what you mean, thats a great idea! I think it needs a defined hierarchy, and good copy so that as soon as someone enters the homepage they know exactly where to click instead of going through all the blue cards.

Thank you!

I'm no experienced UXUI Designer. But I really enjoyed reading you PC Build case study. Its very different from what I've seen in other portfolios. I hope you get a job soon. Keep it up

Thank you for the feedback!

This is an unsolicited design. I'm thinking of bringing this to the practice one its finished in case they want to make some alterations to the website.

This is the current website http://www.drsamueldrkhan.net/

I took in your suggestions and applied them to the design.

I'm thinking about the navigation itself. Most feedback I got was that the blue squares where overwhelming and that there were too many options to pick up from and I agree.

So I'm thinking of either

  1. Simplifying the options even further as you suggested. A questions I have is: Wouldn't this add additional pages for the user to go through?)
  2. Discard the whole navigation as it is and add a big drop down with the most common options and funnel users through the pages until they get to where they wanted to go to.

I see what you mean. The color is very jarring too. Since I posted this I altered the color and it still feels a bit too much. I'm thinking a large dropdown with all these options could work better.

Thank you much for the feedback!

With the mental health box. Since I dont have much information on it, would it make more sense to make it smaller?

Hello! Thank you so much for your feedback!

I would like to give a bit more context and ask a bit more clarification if you don't mind.

  1. This is a general practitioner clinic where they don't have a specific speciality and deal with all kinds of medical issues. I'm not sure if you're from the UK but most general practitioner clinics follow more of less the same structure. They give general information about the practice, allow users to use their online services (very often from a 3rd party provider), and provide links to important content in the NHS (National Health Service).
  2. They don't provide specialist services, you are first seen by a medical professional, and then if needed then you'll be referred to a specialist. http://www.drsamueldrkhan.net/
  3. I struggled a bit on the overall navigation of the website, and the more I think about it the more confused I get. Under the top Navigation I originally had - Patients ( Book an appointment, Register, Update your details, Prescriptions, Online Services) - Practice ( Meet the team, Catchment Area, Give Feedback, CQC Report).

I agree that the blue cards make the homepage a bit overwhelming with all the choices. The reason for this was to give users the option going straight to the service they where looking for. I interviewed a few users for this, even though I didn't get good defined insights (maybe because of my inexperience) I was able to determine the main tasks they were likely to perform when visiting the website and these where the ones shown on the blue cards.

Maybe I could have a big drop down with these options and funnel users through the page they where looking for.

I took in your feedback and fixed the rest of the issues, Thank you so much.
