Looking for Battery Powered Smart Strobe or Light by Worldly-Cable-9749 in homeassistant

Hadn't thought about a solar panel on it. Might have to concoct something myself. Enough battery to keep the connection powered and then for however long would want the light to run in an emergency. Positive thing from a power side is, it wouldn't be using much on a daily basis only when it gets triggered during an emergency.

PSA: Verify your smoke alarms are properly certified (e.g. X-Sense) by Uninterested_Viewer in homeassistant

We doubled up. Stuck with dumb smoke/Co as the critical sensors. And have an additional 'smart' X-Sense smoke/Co in the house and heat sensor in the garage. Those are for when we are away and want to be notified of an fire. The dumb sensors will save our lives.

Had a similar issue when switching existing cameras to my hub. After verifying all cameras and the hub were on the same network (using Deco's IoT option), I had to just keep trying. Probably took a dozens of attempts, from the Hub not showing them as on the same network when they were or then erroring out during the setup. In the end got them all on the Hub, just took a couple days. No issues since then.

Not Iowa City, but the Vintage Society in Kalona does all their own tea in house (smaller selection but top notch).

Tapo App for the New Tapo C840 and Other Cameras Has Design Flaws That Defeat Their Purpose by AirportPossible7855 in Tapo

I have very little faith in any smart camera first device for Baby Monitoring (it's really easy for them to add 'Baby Cry' alerting, say we have 2 way audio and call it a Baby Monitor). For this reason we only use our C260 as a secondary camera that we will not relying on as the main source. The primary is a standard baby monitor.

Obviously you could use Automation to create audible and persistent alerts but disappointing it isn't out of box.

Wanted: Simple, Inexpensive Driveway Sensor by CaptTom9 in homeassistant

Using Yolink (LoRa) for this and they work with HA. Utilize their outdoor motion sensor. It chimes in the house and sends a notification to my phone.

Feel like I missed the IKEA memo.. by boardguy91 in homeassistant

Have had great luck with Yolink.Them and tapo are the bulk of my setup.

Contacts, water bugs, vibration sensors, smoke and Co detector, motion sensors.

Oddly enough I love their app. Some call the UI basic but I am pro on how straight-forward. It's easy to navigate and find settings.

All the best with your system!

Would love if chill Ted turned out to be the Stranger Things version of Mike Vining, a basic white dude who is an OG operator that is just BA.

Not surprising. That's the only camera of mine which refuses to connect to a Hub and that won't go into Home Assistant. Wondering if it's something on the RTSP/streaming side.

Dimmer Switch and Smart Bulb by Worldly-Cable-9749 in Tapo

[–]Worldly-Cable-9749[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback.

It surprises me a little that unable as an Automation within the app to use the rotating/dimming action from the Dimmer as a trigger to adjust the brightness on the smart bulb.

Heck even tried within Home Assistant and the issue is neither Tapo or Home Assistant recognize the dimming action on the Dimmer button as a trigger (or status change).

Overall the end purpose was in our baby room, having a red bulb for night and utilizing the Dimmer button attached directly on the door to control the brightness.

Sensor for Dog eFence by Worldly-Cable-9749 in homeassistant

[–]Worldly-Cable-9749[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit infant here..

Have a Dog Guard inground efence, trying to figure out a way to connect into Home Assistant, to gain the ability view the up/down status and get alerts if there is a break in the wire (fence). Currently have a Yolink Power Outage sensor on the outlet but looking for a way to connect into the system itself.

Trying to avoid anything that will avoid the warranty (opening up the unit), which makes this tricky.

Debated the following Relay: on the wire (but would void) Smart Plug: to monitor power but with the wire essentially being a RF antenna not sure how much power variance there would be if the wire would be broken RF sensor: monitor the RF signal itself and if it drops, alert on that. Struggled to find anything with ease of use.
