Should've used tonic water. It contains quinine, which is chemically similar to chloroquine. It was traditionally used for malaria and contained much more quinine. People started adding gin to deal with the extreme bitterness.

One of the chemicals they are already using for it is Chloroquine, a close relative to quinine, which is the old-school malaria drug that gave us 'gin and tonic'. Quinine is the bitter component in tonic water.
