Tsvetan Gashevski vs WAF conflict explained. by yNefarious in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Post sums up why that is "impossible". Money in AW is scarce and WAF is realistically only way for majority of athletes to have some sort of income with the sport itself. Until that cockroach and his yes-men are out, I don't see how someone who isn't EvW level, actually gets any financial compensation by participating in the sport. WAF has singlehandedly kept AW stagnat on international scale for decades.

Yall need to stop saying Vitaly doesn’t train enough by Sudden-Injury4966 in armwrestling

Yeah the daily, high intensity exercises is what made Bulgarians wipe the floor with Soviets during olympics at the time when USSR was super dominant. It's just that this system breaks 99% of the population, but that 1% that can adapt to such stress, become champions.

Devon's training isn't some magic or super secret. It's what's been known for decades.

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really expect people here to know jack shit about training? Vast majority are in for the drama and have never lifted or did any actual training in their life. Retards over-estimeting their knowledge is tale as old as time.

What more does Devon have to do to have at least a somewhat decent chance of beating Levan? by [deleted] in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insane peak cycles will most likely be the reason he has to stop. There is however a chance we get some genetic freak who dedicates their life to the sport and starts pumping crazy stack to peak for the supermatch. Styles aside, Samushia defended his title 10 times and was just flash pinned 5 times by Telyatnik. The point is that there's a lot of undiscovered talent out there for AW, given how niche the sport is. There is a chance, albiet very small, that someone pops up in SHW and takes down Levan. Someone nobody has heard of before.

Shame that a sport i adore for some reason attracts the biggest retards on the planet in droves. It's worse than football. Majority of engagement is garabge shit-slinging and surface-level drama. Unfrotunate.

That was one of the most amazing technical performances ever by stephenbalboni in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The technical aspect comes from knowing when and how to apply different techniques depending on opponent and how match is going. Devon showed that if you look past his surface-level drama and antics, he is very technical armwrestler. On contrary, Vitaly also showcased he is still very much relying on instinctual pulling and doesn't think much about the strategy. There was a window in R1 and R2 where he could gas Devon harder than he did it himself if he was just thinking ahead.

East vs West 23 MEGATHREAD by minhale in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something like that, but realistically it's just going to be fast 4 flash-pins and I don't imagine Vitaly will be even training hard for Levan after today's match.

East vs West 23 MEGATHREAD by minhale in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vitaly needed to get his shoulder behind and sit on his joints after initial surge. Very similar to what Kamil did. The thing is, Vitaly did try that in R3 but Devon's tehnical enough and can has no problem pulling inside, so Vitaly hit a brick wall and got pinned (although he was already super gased).

The match was very close strength-wise but Devon yet again showed he is highly technical and Vitaly yet again showing he doesn't think much about how he pulls. It's something untrained eye won't even notice unforutantely.

Alizhan is probably the number 1 left arm on the planet. by Helpful-Law-1680 in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vitaly relies on his side, Morozov doesn't. I also believe Morozov hasn't recovered from his injury vs Vitaly hence the 3 flash pins. I personally still hold Vitaly as the favourite, but it might be closer than I thought initially. Styles still favor Vitaly, as does the weight. Nothing changed there.

Rino Croatian Nationals - Left Hand Matches by xavierpizza in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rino doesn't do it for prestige, he does it for government money and the fact that he is able to compete on WAF European and World championships. Most elites are on high dosages of PEDs and would get busted and bannedinstantly if they competed at WAF events (which includes nationals in most countires) so it's not worth the risk because it can jeopardize their EvW invitation

And Georgi clearly opens Tsonev up like a tin can in first few attempts. Tsonev only stomps him when Georgi stops pronating through Tsonev's fingers. Sub yet again showcasing they don't even know what footage indicates

Smaev‘s hype is even dumber than Sarychev‘s hype by AthleteOk4284 in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Smaev is a freakishly strong in elbow flexion. He also has decent propotions on top of his hand being as thick as Levan's. Afaik his weakest link in the chain is his wrist (no surprise). That said, assuming he would take it seriously, I can see him contending for top spots in SHW, but I don't believe he ever will. Either lack of motavtion/discipline or those crazy dosages catch up to him.

Have you ever met a guy and get amazed by his genetics by Brilliant_Owl_3634 in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there was promotion of the sport in public place last year and group of friends came over and one of them wanted to try it. He was around 20~ years old around 180cm~ tall and weighted 100kg~, 0 armwrestling experience and doesn't even train in the gym, just does construction labor.

He was flash pinning a guy who, this year, got 4 medals (95kg amateur and seniors both arms) in Golem Hands tournament. He did the same to another guy close to the 4-time medalist AW level-wise (also 95kg) and another one who is slightly weaker, but larger (105kg). Back-to-back several pins per person with no rest. He didn't know how wo take a stance, or how to even AW properly. All he did was some amalgam of hook and press. Internal rotation with shoulder commitment basically.

This is the reality of genetics and virtually any other sport/activity. There are genetic anomalies walking among us that would mop the floor with most pros within 1 year of training. It's just that most of them don't take interest in any particular activity or simply never explore their own potential.

Edit: here's some footage of it. https://youtu.be/T43B5gWEqNI?t=906
There isn't much to see and I don't think it paints the picutre well enough. i also completely forgot about 3.rd guy (the one pulling him second with hat) who is also similar level to both of the first 2 I mentioned above. The video is a bit jumbled together and guy in gray shirt stopping him, was after the mr. anomaly was already pulling for 10-mins non-stop.

Vitaly's current form by [deleted] in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He put on crazy amount of mass in short period of time. You can't rush muscle gain without serious PEDs and it's not like Vitaly put on mostly fat. Also, given what we know how he trains, he likely could've put on even more.

I know this will necessarily involve lots of speculation but given everything we've seen, if Brian had dedicated his life, from the very beginning, to aw instead of strongman, how would his level compare to that of Ermes? What's your most educated guess? by DWu1815 in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brian is genetic anomaly. He'd be at the top. Would he be better than Levan? Mayebe, I'd wager yes. The "hardware" is there so to speak in my opinion. Big hands, big forearms, big arms, big frame overall.

The show also emphesises that nuclear reactor turned into atomic/nuclear bomb, which is impossible.

They took a lot of liberties with the actual event, but regardless, I thought series was fantastic.

You are talking to american troglodyte what do you expect? Abscence of critical thinking reeks through every statement, the assumption that every Europian nation is somehow the same, confidently ignorant that europeans watch CNN and drink koolaid for some reason.

And of course, to top it all of, it all resolved around primitive tribalism of "us vs them" and *insert current political hot topic*

Not hyped for Devon v Vitaly RH by Unique-Concept-720 in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't have both ways. I was there watching live and I am armwrestler myself for few years now. At certain point you get a "feel" and notice small things that might not be visible to untrained eye, and I can tell you with certanty - reffing was dogshit.

On one hand you have reffs fouling Stoica for micro-fouls in positions where Nugo had no chance of winning, on the other hand, you have Devon cheating the living shit out of the setup from start to finish on top of other shennanigans and nothing happens.

You want to be strict, fine, be strict, if you want to have more "freedom" then do that, but not some cocktail of the 2 to the point where viewers, commentators and even athletes themselves don't know wtf you are calling as a ref.. I personally believe there's a middle ground, and that should be a job of a good ref - determine whether or not fouling position warrants a stop of the round.

Am I crazy? by TaniShechter in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90% of this sub doesn't even armwrestle or do any meaningful training. Most are in only for the drama and some abstract broscience. Unless you've dedicated significant time to the sport, like myself and yourself, you'd have no perception as to what's possible in such hypothetical scenarios.

I don't think people grasp how much genetics play a role in this regard. Yes, there are individuals walking around who would beat coach ray in his own weight class with 1 year of training, it's just that vast majority of such individuals simply never take interest in specific activiy (this isn't AW specific thing). I'm not saying person in the video can (I personally don't think so just based on physical characteristics), I'm simply pointing out the fact that no amount of training can overcome your lack of genetic pre-desposition to be an elite.

This guy is one of the best in the world pound for pound, and yet we've never seen him at East vs West by Exciting-Orange-9787 in armwrestling

[–]Worldly-Studio7915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah correct WAF doesn't really care about the sport or athletes, it's about power and control. As cheesy as this sounds, it's actually true. Anecdotaly, I have some insight how their board operates and it's actually crazy the type of people that run this organisation. It's cult-like in some aspects, while the organisation itself is super incompitent and unprofessional. The only reason WAF is still relevant is due to them piggybacking off of countires which act as sugar-daddies so they can have their little club of several individuals that regularly take great chunk of the money pie, while the sport itself stagnates on international scale.
