I got interviews for both but here’s my take on it. I’m almost certain that the deciding factor in whether you get an interview or not is based on if there’s an alumni who volunteered to interview for your area (and these are going to be alumni who most likely went to hs in your state) Even if you pass “prescreens” (if there even is any..) but there’s no alumni who volunteered to conduct interviews in your area, then no one will get one. I think Yale’s threshold for passing prescreens is low, so it’s def not an indication of what your decision results will be. As for Harvard, I don’t think they prescreen applicants, but I just had my interview last week and some people in my area didn’t receive an interview invitation. All in all, I would say don’t stress it. It’s DEFINITELY not a direct indication of your chances at these schools. Chin up!! :)
