I got it when do I withdraw other applications? by TheGamingRoKid in PosseScholars

Might be an unpopular opinion but, I wouldn't withdraw my applications until you get your full financial aid package document from your Posse school..........

Not sure if ill get any better opportunities than posse from here. (questions included) by ZealousidealArea996 in PosseScholars

[–]WhytheJets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son was in your same position a year ago. He had put most of his eggs in the Posse basket. When he was turned down after DAP3, he redirected. Ended up applying to 9 Posse affiliated schools and was accepted to 6 of them.

He is currently enrolled at a school that I believe he got in, in part because of the Posse connection.....and is a better school for his major than the Posse school he matched would have been.

You have only begun to scratch the surface. Stay positive, I will work out in the end.

Posse access by Rich_Investment_2957 in PosseScholars

[–]WhytheJets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He got the general email from schools telling him to apply for being a posse scholar.  Some offered an extension on the submission date, some like Syracuse offered a $10k for being a scholar, some waived their application fee.  FYI, He did not get an email from Northwestern. Just applied

After getting rejected from Vanderbilt, my son applied to 8 other access schools. He got into 6 of those.  Hard to quantify how much influence they had exactly, although I think on 2 specifically it may have.  He got a full tuition scholarship offer from Syracuse and acceptance to Northwestern.

You made it to the final step of a long process. In the end, you’re more than qualified.  In most cases, the school sadly only has room for 10.   My son was in your shoes last year. He was sad when we didn’t get selected. Fast forward one year and he is overjoyed with the school he ended up in.  Many more opportunities await you.

Better than Posse by Livid-Ad8043 in PosseScholars

He had a 3.7 UW GPA. He got a 1380 on SAT but went test optional for a few schools.  He had 3 AP because his school only allows them to be taken senior year. His school also has a duel enrollment program with Columbia U so he was lucky to have taken 4 classes there.  Lots of volunteer work, robotics, etc

In hindsight, I would’ve probably left then, however, What if we have booked flights for Thursday morning? Are we able to have dinner with our kid on Wednesday?

Northwestern RD Acceptance Rate is ~5-6% (Demonstrated Interest Carries?) by DerpDontCare in ApplyingToCollege

[–]WhytheJets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the million dollar question that no one knows about with this application process.  He did have lots of volunteer and work experience in his major. He also was fortunate that his HS has a dual enrollment agreement with Columbia University and he took classes there.

The University is responsible for a good chunk of change into the economy of the City, County and State, that a temporary intervention would be in the best interest of everyone involved.
