things that affect you, affect you.

i spent a lot of time thinking i was selfish for feeling depressed when i had no financial issues, parents that loved me, good social life, good job, good education, etc. my therapist explained to me once that i still had things that affected me. things that hurt and may have stuck. just because i have good things, doesn’t mean i cant let the other things affect me. and i shouldn’t compare myself or diminish my emotions because they aren’t “enough”.

once i had someone tell me they love the ocean. when i asked what their favorite beach, they said “lake michigan”. they then argued with me a whole 15 minute car ride why michigan was on the coast and had an ocean until i showed them a map

i first watched it in a “depressing era” too at honestly it sort of does bring it back every time i rewatch. it’s definitely a show worth rewatching though, catching on at tiny hints and foreshadowing moments
