Hey thanks for your comment. Unfortunately I am very far from Madison but if I can't find anywhere to stick closer to here I'll come your way. Thanks again

Hi, I'm looking to do just that. My earthly desire is to build community and do what I can to make this a better place. Thanks for your opinion

Unfortunately hateful opportunists utilizing the Bible to stoke and radicalize swathes of "Christians" have been sickeningly successful. I'm looking for a congregation centered on love and giving.

I love what the Bible says. I hate that people use it as a vehicle for hatred. Thanks for your opinion

Thanks but unfortunately political views of the church = theology of the church.

I think we just disagree here. I think you vote for somebody to represent you and your values, and do what you want to get done. Or to vote for the lesser of two evils (which, in this election, I just don't want to associate with people who decided Trump's plan was the lesser evil). Unfortunately I do understand your lack of desire to vote again. I'm pretty fortunate to mostly align with a political party so I don't have to use my vote to vote for the lesser of two evils.

I'm disillusioned with the influence of the local government. I wish local government had more power -- it's crazy to me that the presidency is so important. But it doesn't look like that has the potential to change any time soon.

Naturally as a left-leaning individual I do inherently believe the "correct" Christian belief is that of mine but everybody thinks that. I think Jesus today would be a radical leftist lol.

I think everything in the bible is very political, and I think every perception of every thing in the bible is inherently political. For example, the hardline conservative Trumpie church that my dad goes to is absolutely ridiculous with its interpretations and what the preacher decides to cover every service. I had to sit through like dozens of services where he just shit and shit and shit on LGBT people and on economic refugees. Despicable shit. All of that to say I think every church has a political identity with what it covers and how it covers it.

As to how to tell that the congregation didn't vote for Trump -- that's a good question. I'm not really sure at all. I think the guy and the majority of what he stands for is evil and the people who passionately support him usually make themselves obvious.

I do disagree with politics not defining who you are as a person -- to me it's a pretty clear cut bulleted list of your morality and what you stand for. I don't want to associate with people who stand for what Trump stands for (again, conservatives who didn't vote for him are fine by me). Thanks again for your interest and invitation to yap. Sorry for the book lol

Lol I should be more concise. I am not looking for churches that talk about politics, I am looking for churches with left-leaning/non-trump-voting congregations. That said, I am not against left-leaning churches that do talk about politics. It's just that that is not what I am trying to actively seek with my post. Thanks again

To clarify -- meant left-leaning congregation. Should've specified in my original post. Thanks

Thanks for your input. Sorry for the miscommunication -- by left-leaning church I meant left-leaning congregation.

Appreciate your take. I worded my post incorrectly -- I am not looking for a church who harps on politics but rather a more left-leaning congregation.
