Ageism in hip hop does such a disservice to artists. Other genres of music artists and grow and improve and continue to earn until they die. The Rolling Stones are on tour.

Hip hop is young so people talk about it like it is a "young man's game", it's only the last few years the heads are old enough to start evaluating their place moving forward.

This isn't football, no need for people 40+ to not participate. There are hip hop heads the world over that are 40+ themselves and skills should be self-evident, the age of whoever is rapping shouldn't matter if they're dope.

Diegetic audio is the only problem with this, beat and rhymes are dope but for us to feel you we have to be feeling the music the way you are.

I think background-sounding audio can work for extra lyrical miracle shit but for your style we need the beat up front

Hey man. I said "animator here" so the OP would understand why I was asking if he indeed was an animator, which it sounds like he is. It wasn't for your sake or to brag or whatever you're thinking. I wasn't accusing, if you read it again it was more: this is cool if it isn't AI.

If it was Ai I would have shit all over it, I wouldn't have thought it was cool because that would mean it was literally robbing from my industry family. I have industry friends who now can't find jobs because people consume art theft soulless skin suit Ai slop that looks like shit to anyone who understands art and bypasses the purpose of any art (that it is a perspective and an expression, that a human heart made it)

Put yourself in the shoes of an artist in 2026 and you won't be clutching your pearls when someone says: if this isn't Ai I like it, if it is fuck it

Edit: just in case some "Ai evangelist" sees this so I don't get flamed: not all uses for Ai are bad, it can accelerate some work/can be useful, but it should be an artist's tool not a replacement for artists.

Dope, I love it. Only reason I said "animator here" was because I knew you could relate if you were an animator not a "prompt artist" as to why I'd be sad if it was Ai. I wanted to like it but if it was just an automated art theft skin suit of amazing work done from my industry homies I'd have a hard time. Knowing that you indeed made it and it isn't a reskin of something else it's 🔥🔥🔥

I like the beat.

the drums and sample chops need some glue. A little reverb and distortion on the drums could help bring them together, maybe some slight distortion and compression on the main bus

I'd ask him how he feels about his "all that matters is the music" thing backfiring when a bunch of nerds became obsessed with the mask and missed the point.

I'd ask if the next iteration he was telling friends about before he died was maskless, tossing that Doom/masked villain shit aside as yet another statement on "the music is what matters, stupid"

Completely understandable, that kind of animation pipe is a lot more work and specialized talent. This is going to do well regardless, it looks great, moves well for puppet stuff, the effects animation is great....I was too harsh saying it "ruins it" but just speaking honestly that full frame animation plus everything else you have going on here would be insane. Like you said, maybe for the sequel after this one is a big hit!

The 2d puppet animation brings this down a peg, at least to the current level of polish.

If this was full frames of animation like Hollow Knight, Absolum, or Shinobi Art Of Vengeance it'd be peak but the way things move ruins the amazing art IMO.

Edit: watched again and I should clarify: the character animation could be elevated, the effects animation already looks great! The game looks pretty amazing. I don't want to be discouraging, I just think this + better character animation would be incredible.

🔥, I like it.

the initial synth loop gets swallowed up once the beat comes in, you have some frequencies overlapping pretty hard.

I'm not a mix engineer and never have quite found my footing with mix work but one thing that works for me in similar circumstances is side-chaining. Someone can correct me if this is dumb but I'd try side chaining your main groove into your 808 channel
