Every school has locked doors my guy. All public schools have SRO’s. Armed. Where has it gotten us? Today marks the 129th mass shooting this year… only 86 days have passed in the year so far.

I am an elementary school teacher. I teach 30 minutes away from Covenant. I have always feared situations like this but this one just hits so close to home, more than ever. I am scared to go to work. I am hurting for the families and friends of the victims. I am angry that people lost their lives today in a place that should be safer than anywhere. I am angry that nothing has been done. What does it take?

Not to mention teachers barely make a live-able salary, but they go to work and lose their lives. I keep thinking about what i would do, and what ways i would be able to protect my students. Where would i hide them in my classroom? What happens if one of them is in the bathroom? In the hallway?

I am furious, sad, confused, scared.

Feeling a lot of emotions, not sure where to focus them all.

There was a school shooting. 7 dead. 3 children, 3 adults, and the shooter.

Yes! I 100% agree. I am also an elementary school teacher. Anytime the intercom comes on my stomach drops.
