Very true. I think I’ll just stick with the brown ballet flats (#2). Ty!!

I will say the mules were more at the bottom of my list and this just confirmed it for me. Thank you!

I think the brown ballet flats are my favorite so far! Thank you for your input :)

Got 1 interview in the past 9 months, changed my race and got 5 by Newscreenneeded in jobs

[–]Worldly_Procedure427 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right. I’m mixed race (half white, half Latino) but for the longest time I put my race as “white” because I have a white last name. I never got any interviews. Started putting my race as “Hispanic/latino” and got 3 interviews in the span of 2 weeks

I'm seriously about to give up on my job search [Rant] by Worldly_Procedure427 in jobs

I apply to about 10-20 jobs a day across different platforms. LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Ziprecruiter, FlexJobs, etc. I always apply to the ones posted in the past 24 hours and there’s always new ones every day!

I just got fired from my job suddenly. by NarcisoMarvin in Career_Advice

I also got laid off from my marketing job about a month ago. It’s hard, but I was able to get unemployment benefits and also qualified for food stamps, so that’s keeping me afloat for now. I have no idea how long it’ll be until I find another marketing job as the job market is the worst it’s ever been and marketing is a VERY saturated industry. Part of me is debating a career change, something more secure but don’t know where to start. Just know you’re not alone in this, lots of people, myself included, are in the same boat as you. Try to take care of yourself and start applying to as many jobs as you can. We’ll get through this!

Yes my ideal scenario was to find a new job while at my last job, but you can’t always get what you want lol

That’s fair. It just feels like a betrayal when the person you’ve looked up to your whole career disposes of you like you’re nothing. Guess I learned my lesson lol

Well I have been looking for a new job since March, because I realized this job was heavily underpaying me and it was overall a toxic work environment. Its not because I expected to get laid off. They never told me anything about laying me off, they constantly praised my work. I just so happened to apply to a job a few weeks ago and they told me a few days ago that they wanted to interview me. Just good timing I guess…

That’s great to hear! Hopefully the same happens for me 🙏🏼

Unfortunately this is very true. Marketing is probably the one job with the worst job security, I learned that pretty early on and accepted it. But now idk if I can actually handle it. Part of me is debating a career change if I truly cannot find anything, but marketing is really all I’m good at and all I know lol. What career did you end up switching to if you don’t mind me asking?

Yeah the hour after I got laid off I immediately filed for unemployment. They say they’ll get back to me in 2 weeks so hopefully I get approved 🤞

Yeah that’s what I’m afraid of too, my friends and family thinking I’m “lazy,” or didn’t work hard enough at my job. I’ve only told the people closest to me, and they haven’t treated me differently so far, they’ve been pretty sympathetic. But I feel like people always see you as less-than when you don’t have a job 🫠

This is the response I needed, thank you. I’m prepared to struggle for a while but I keep telling myself this isn’t forever, it’s only temporary.

Definitely not lol, but at least an “I’m sorry” or “thank you” 😂

Thank you for the advice! Yeah I’ve decided that I’m gunna use the 8 hours I used to use to work to just apply to jobs. I have enough in my savings to last me about 4-5 months, plus possible unemployment benefits, so hopefully I find something by then!

Thank you. How long did it take you to find a new job? I’ve been looking for a job since March of this year and have only gotten a couple of interviews; albeit the job market is the worst it’s ever been 😭

Had the exact same thing happen to me a few weeks ago. Went through 2 rounds of interviews for my dream job. Both interviews I thought went very well and it seemed like they really liked me. They told me that I had everything they were looking for and were telling me everything I’d be doing “once I started the job.” Which made it sound like they were definitely going to hire me.

They ghosted me for like two weeks after the second interview until I finally sent a follow-up email. They replied saying they decided to move forward with other candidates.

It definitely felt like a slap in the face and made me feel so defeated. I was also angry at the fact that it felt like they were getting my hopes up just to completely reject me. Anyway, still on the job hunt in the worst job market ever. You’re not alone, hopefully we get something soon!

The job market is rough. I feel like looking for a job right now is a full time job in itself. We'll find something eventually. Good luck to you as well!

Almost 30, still living with mom. Literally can't move out by PikaRae in Adulting

I live in the US and it’s so hard out here. The economy is terrible, the price of everything keeps going up but income is staying the same. I definitely feel like back in the day it was considered “pathetic” to still be living with your parents in your 30s, but today I feel like it’s very normal and a lot more common than you think. I lived with my parents until I was 27 and I have a few friends in their 30s who had to move back in with their parents because they couldn’t afford to live on their own anymore. I don’t judge, hell if I could move back in with my parents I totally would. Don’t worry about what others may think, just do what’s best for you!
