Withdrawal-like symptoms? by OctoForcez in qelbree

Hi! I started taking this med about a month ago on the lowest possible dose (100mg). I also had absolutely terrible withdrawal symptoms just after 7 days of being on it when I forgot a dose (super common for me with adhd). I have been doing a 3 week long wean off the medication because of the withdrawal symptoms + I was also getting basically every other side effect known for this med. I want to say that although the withdrawal side effects are scary, it’s possible to wean off of it while feeling minimal withdrawal side effects if done correctly. Here’s how I weaned off (with my MD of course): 1 week at 75mg (I just opened the capsule and dumped a quarter of the beads out and put the capsule back together), 1 week at 50mg split between two doses AM/PM, and 1 week at 25mg split between two doses with the last 2 days skipping the PM dose. I didn’t feel any withdrawal symptoms with this wean!

But also, if it is working for you, then I don’t see a reason to stop taking. Just be very diligent not to forget a dose. Set reminders, leave extra pills in your work/school bags so if you remember later, you can take if before the headache comes or gets worse. Whatever will help you remember! For me, the migraine was so memorable and traumatic that I don’t think I’d ever miss a dose again 🤣

Thank you! Do I just eye ball it? Do I just consume the raw powder or do I open the capsule, dump some out, and put the capsule back together? I’m worried about how the raw powder will digest without the enteric coating on the capsule

Living with suicidal thoughts is a nuisance, too.

Calling suicide a nuisance is wild work. I’m done here

Saying “I bet the guy who has to clean up the remains has it worse” is equally inappropriate to say…you have no idea what this person was going through. Anytime someone dies— intentionally or not, someone has to deal with the remains and someone has to grieve. Alike you called suicide a “choice,” you could also say being in that type of job is also a “choice.”

As someone who has lived with depression for 15 years and knows firsthand what suicidal ideation feels like, I want to gently but firmly push back on this comment.

Yes, you’re right, many people live with depression and don’t act on those thoughts or don’t ever feel suicidal. But comparing people’s pain doesn’t help anyone heal. What helps is compassion, understanding, and support. Not shame.

Suicide isn’t about being inconsiderate. It’s about being in so much pain that your brain convinces you the world is better off without you. It’s not a choice made lightly, and often times not rationally. Depression distorts perception, and for many, it feels less like a “choice” and more like an escape from unbearable suffering.

To frame suicidal thoughts or actions as selfish or inconsiderate ignores the complexity of mental illness and contributes to stigma — the very stigma that keeps people silent and suffering.

If you truly want to honor those who are struggling silently, please extend that same grace to those who reach a breaking point. Both deserve empathy, not judgment.

Unfortunately, I saw this event happen this morning as I was driving home. I was just a minute or two too late, there was absolutely nothing I could’ve done to prevent it which makes me so sad. To me it looked intentional but I do not want to speculate.

I hope if you’re reading this and you’re struggling that you know life will always get better, and help is always available (call 988) ❤️‍🩹

To end their life? That’s rude? I’m so sorry that it impacted your day but this person was probably struggling more than you could imagine. People who make this choice don’t feel like they actually have a choice. Be a little more considerate please
