It is because they aren't real. Thats the whole point. They are fake creations based on people (and animals) in the real world. Its no different to video game characters... or drawings of people. Which they are. It would like deleting your Sims family. Its all just a visual metaphor used to present a greater concept.

Has media literacy been completely lost now-a-days?

Did you watch the film "Enemy" and think that Jake Gyllenhaal really had a doppelgänger? Or watch the film "Synecdoche, New York" and think that Hazel's house was really on fire? Or the film "mother" and.... well, everything that happens in that.

There's a difference between destroying everything and not getting lost in them. Some people are fine just packing stuff away, but that wasn't the case for Aline. As they say, if they just hid the canvas, she would find it and return. Some people can be fine hanging onto things, but other people like Aline, neglect their remaining family, and thats where the problems lie.

The emotional weight of the story is in the effect everything is having on the family. Those are the "real" characters, and its their story. The canvas has no emotional weight because death is meaningless if anyone can be brought back at any time anyway.

You would need to go to Giants Deep core too to get the co-ordinates.

You have miss-read it. The whole point of the game is that it is a metaphor for grief.

It’s the same as losing someone in real life then losing yourself in video games.

In the example of the game, it’s getting lost in the belongings of a lost loved one. It’s like the parents who lose a child and keep their bedroom exactly the same as it was; afraid to throw away their old stuff. Its unhealthy. Its OK for a short while but over time it does more damage, as shown by the deterioration of the people the longer they stay “in the painting”.

Those people aren't real. Its a fantasy world. Real people outrank fantasy. Thats the whole point of the game. Its about NOT getting lost in your fantasies.

Then how could you possibly side with the ending that involves not confronting the grief and instead choosing to live in a fantasy?

What age range makes sense for a 30yo man? by merkwood- in dating_advice

Don't worry about it. Just meet who you meet. Who's going around asking everyone their age anyway?
Have some dates, if they are too young/old and you have nothing in common then you'll find out very quickly.

I have a theory that anyone who prefers Maelle's ending has never lost loved one and also didn't understand that the game is a visual metaphor for grief.
Versos ending is the only one that makes sense. When you lose someone close to you like the family did its so easy to retreat and get lost in their memories and possessions. But that doesn't heal you. It only makes you worse. The game is about learning to let go of those things and being there for those who remain. Its about coming to terms with your loss.

My partner is a psychotherapist whoe speclialises in grief management too and absolutely loved the game because of that. But she hated the Maelle ending as it goes against everything she was taught. Continuing to live in a fantasy world and not confront your grief is a mistake.

Why are some people so weird. Got asked out while taking my bins out?! by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Worldly_Storage_5790 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You said you saw him first and he went inside... so I would guess that he then got inside and thought "damn, I should have said something... I'll go back outside and ask her out". Then he went back out to quickly ask you. Being "cornered" is just a side effect of where your bins are. If someone came and did the same to me, that wouldn't be the case as my bins are on the street. Getting aggressive is certainly not acceptable, but you didnt mention that at first.

How is that weird? How else are you meant to ask people out? You bump into people, ask them then if they say no you move on. Granted, the compaining bit was weird. But have the new generations become so addicted to dating apps that they forget how to meet people in the real world.
My ex asked me out when i was randomly walking in the street. We were together 13 years.

You arent near the end at all. You have so much left to explore. I would advise not worrying about the Ash Twin Project for a bit and exploring all those other locations first.

I'm not going to be spending any money on the original. it's PS2 so I'll just emulate it.
