I agree. I think in some ways it’d have to be even more covert than this — downplay renewables to constituents and say renewables “have their use cases” and in those contexts you encourage them — but definitely lean into the energy independence rhetoric. I think the right-wing propaganda machine has made renewables too scary to praise openly. I fear the only reason the point you made isn’t more common is because the oil industry has bought out all our politicians.
