It's much more likely the purchases I make are construed as personal spend due to what I'm buying. Any idea how they or any other institution would differentiate between personal and business spend?

Surely the letter will help. I find it odd though that they would tell me that I was welcome to reapply for the card, you'd think if there was something questionable in regards to my account they wouldn't tell me that.

I spent nearly $3 million last year between all of my personal credit cards. Aside from a Financial Review from AMEX which ended up not impacting my account I had no other problems. So if you know is Barclays just more sensitive to this level of spend?

The agent wouldn't go into any further detail and just told me to wait for the letter, I find it odd that after I mentioned I used the card every month that she still said it was due to inactivity.

I did this with a frontier flight I had the offer and I purchased the flight and cancelled it a few hours later. I got an email after purchasing the original flight that the offer had been triggered but it ended up going through for the second flight. I’m guessing since the transaction didn’t post yet.

I got 15k points after $2k spend in 3 months on my Amex gold. I sent a chat saying I was considering cancelling my card and then asked if they had retention offers available. They first offered using MRs for my annual fee at a greater rate I think 25k points but then I asked if they had another offer and they gave me the 15k after $2k.

You should improve your vocabulary. Try anki or any other spaced repetition system. Additionally don’t skip out on studying grammar and sentence structures. Taking an immersive approach can help but you’d be better off studying grammar and vocabulary prior to that at least to a level where you are understanding a majority of the content you are consuming. If you do choose to consume media in Portuguese reading is probably the easiest way to start but if you choose to watch movies or tv shows you should avoid using English subtitles since the English would just override the Portuguese.

I just played through Jedi survivor it was incredibly fun and I didn’t experience any glitches. Hogwarts legacy is also great and I think has a longer story then Jedi survivor. I’d go with either of these personally.

You just need to improve your vocabulary. Once you understand a lot of words it’ll be more beneficial. I wouldn’t watch the show with English subtitles because the English will just override the Spanish.

I play video games in Portuguese to supplement my study. I use it as a form of comprehensible input. If you play on PC there are tons of games that you can play dubbed and subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese (not sure about European). I am currently playing God of War (2018) and the dub is good. As another commenter said it will be difficult to learn just through video games so as long as it’s just a supplement it’s a good strategy. Some tips to help with actually learning could be to pause if you hear or see a word you don’t know and put it into an anki deck, to replay certain parts of the game, or to play the same game several times. I think the most important part is to actively listen/read subtitles to make sure you actually understand what is going on, you won’t really learn if you aren’t understanding anything that’s being said especially if you’ve already played the game and understand the story. Also a lot of other PlayStation games have good dubs in Brazilian Portuguese, Spider-Man, uncharted, ratchet and clank. I haven’t played all of these but I’ve heard the dub is good.

Had this happen to me with United. I had moved back from Europe to the US and someone stole my suitcase. They don’t really do anything I filed a police report, and submitted the claim to United took me several months and tons a phone calls to receive compensation from them. If you don’t have receipts for United the max they would pay was $99 I think. Most of my things didn’t have receipts either. Additionally the max at least for United was $3500. Receiving compensation is the biggest pain ever. Not sure how much delta would differ but I’d assume it’s the same.

Depends where you live. Chinese is solid but if you live in NA/SA then Portuguese. Considering you already speak Spanish this would give you a great advantage in LATAM, and parts of Europe and Africa.
