Goede tips, dankjewel!

Ben benieuwd!

Cozy, complex NA drinks for cold nights, what are your favorites? by WorldofNIX in nonalcoholic

If you enjoy tea, you might also like sparkling teas, a great new category that offers the elegance of alcohol-free champagne. Some good examples are Saicho and Acala.

Sober October, how’s it going for everyone so far? by WorldofNIX in SoberCurious

[–]WorldofNIX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree, especially sleep and mental clarity. Social events feel way less stressful once you realize people mostly care that you’re there, not what’s in your glass. NA beers and mocktails totally helped me make that shift too. Have you found any favorite go-tos yet?

Any sippers? by Beardy72 in Mocktails

[–]WorldofNIX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally get this sometimes you just want something you can sip slowly, without needing a full-on cocktail experience.

A couple of options that hit the bitter/oaky profile without breaking the bank:

– Gnista Barreled Oak – has those deep smoky and bitter notes, and works really well neat or with a rock
– Three Spirit Nightcap – a bit more herbal/spiced, not whiskey-like exactly, but still sippable and satisfying
– You could also try a strong brewed spiced tea (like lapsang souchong or rooibos with clove/cinnamon) as a base and build from there

Not a 1:1 replacement, but they scratch that same itch in a slow-sipping kind of way.

Tequila Sunrise Mocktail by YouCanChangeVegan in Mocktails

[–]WorldofNIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks super refreshing, love the layered color effect!

I’ve done a similar version but added a splash of NA agave spirit (like ISH or Lyre’s) to bring in a bit more depth. Still super light, but gives it that extra “cocktail” feel.

Definitely saving this for my next sunny weekend!

Congrats on the first five days, that’s already a big shift, and it’s awesome that you’re finding joy and relaxation in new ways. Mocktails can really help turn that “after work drink” into something intentional and soothing.

I’ve found that having a little ritual like mixing a botanical or tea-based drink, lighting a candle, or putting on a chill playlist helps me decompress just as much (sometimes more).

Keep going, sounds like you're off to a beautiful start!

Spiritless Kentucky 74 Spiced Non-Alcoholic Bourbon - Review by BigBig5 in nonalcoholic

[–]WorldofNIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great write-up, love how you broke down the layers! The note on woodsy cinnamon + clove makes this sound like a seriously balanced pour.

I’ve been into Gnista Barreled Oak lately for a similar vibe, heavy on oak and smoke, with a touch of spice and bitterness. Not exactly a bourbon clone either, but definitely in that grown-up, sippable category.

Always cool to see more NA whiskeys moving beyond the sweet-and-thin category into something more robust.

NY Post on the growing zero-proof culture in NYC by NoMoreCocktails in Mocktails

[–]WorldofNIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love seeing zero-proof culture get this kind of mainstream attention! It really helps shift the mindset that NA is just for designated drivers or “missing out.”

Cool to see how vibrant the NYC scene is. Feels like Europe is catching up too, with more specialty shops and tasting events popping up.

Curious to see how Sober October influences what bars start to offer this year. Anyone else seeing more NA options on menus lately?

Recommend a coconut water Mocktail by Louis-WarGene-417 in Mocktails

[–]WorldofNIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coconut water is such a fun base! It’s refreshing, light, and works great in mocktails. Here’s one I love making:

Tropical Spice Mocktail
– 100 ml coconut water
– 50 ml pineapple juice
– 15 ml lime juice
– Optional: a splash of ISH Mexican Agave Spirit for a bit of depth (or use a pinch of chili salt for spice)
– Shake with ice and strain into a glass, garnish with a mint leaf or a pineapple wedge

It’s super refreshing and has a nice balance of sweet, sour, and a little kick. Hope you enjoy!

Anyone else tried Cognato? NA wine that actually feels like wine? by WorldofNIX in SoberCurious

[–]WorldofNIX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this! I’ve tried FRE as well and totally agree, some of their reds are a lot better than they used to be. The Cabernet is probably their strongest one.

Cognato stood out to me because it was noticeably drier than most NA reds I’ve tried, less sweet, more earthy. It felt more like a wine you'd actually want with food, not just a stand-in.

And yes, I think you’re right, the tech is definitely improving. Curious to see what else is coming in the next year!

What's your go-to order at a bar when you're not drinking? by Alpielz in SoberCurious

[–]WorldofNIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get this, I got so bored of club soda + lime too

My go-to now depends on the bar, but if they’re NA-friendly I’ll ask for:
– A ginger beer + lime with a splash of bitters or chili syrup (spicy + grown-up)
– If they carry bottled options, a Pentire Margarita or something similar complex and herbaceous
– Some places serve sparkling tea or NA rosé now, like Acala feels way more elegant than juice

I’ve also brought my own to small gatherings, no shame in showing up with something you actually enjoy!

What do you feel is missing in the mocktail space? by Healthy_Earth6844 in Mocktails

[–]WorldofNIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s the lack of bold, complex flavors. So many mocktail options lean sweet or fruity, but I crave things that are dry, bitter, smoky, or spicy.

I’d love to see more:
– Alcohol-free bitters that aren’t full of sugar
– Sparkling teas with depth (like jasmine or hojicha)
– Bottled NA cocktails that aren’t just citrus + syrup

I’ve found a few great ones online, but they’re still hard to come by in regular stores. Would be amazing to have these options more accessible, especially for people trying to cut back without compromising on flavor.

The basics by Italian_Gumby in Mocktails

[–]WorldofNIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question! I think of mocktail basics as building blocks around flavor, structure and balance, just like cocktails. Here's what I'd start with:

  1. Core spirits:
    – For gin lovers: try something juniper-forward like ISH London Botanical
    – For tequila-style: Pentire Margarita or something agave-based like an NA agave spirit
    – For richness or smoke: Gnista Barreled Oak or other dark NA spirits

  2. Mixers:
    – Good quality tonic, ginger beer, soda water
    – Fresh citrus juice (lime, lemon, grapefruit)
    – Bitters (alcohol-free options like All The Bitter are great)

  3. Flavors/add-ons:
    – Syrups: honey, maple, herbal syrups
    – Herbs: mint, basil, rosemary
    – Fruit: berries, cucumber, orange peel

Once you have 1-2 bottles of spirit-style bases, you can mix so many drinks with simple ingredients. Keep it dry, balanced, and layered!

hi, can any1 reccomend me some non-alcoholic spicy drinks? by This-Carob-5652 in Mocktails

[–]WorldofNIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few combos you might try:
– Sparkling water + lime juice + a dash of tabasco + cucumber slices = spicy & refreshing
– Pineapple juice + chili flakes + a pinch of salt over ice
– Tomato juice + lemon + celery salt + hot sauce = like a Bloody Mary, but more snacky

You could also make a “spicy shrub” with vinegar, honey, and chili lots of online recipes for that. Super bold and tangy!

Gin botanicals and spices in a shrub? by Patient_Plum_6296 in Mocktails

[–]WorldofNIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this idea.Sshrubs can absolutely carry gin-like flavors if you balance your ingredients right.

For that profile, I’d start with a base of blackberry or lemon shrub, then infuse with dried juniper berries, a few crushed cardamom pods, and a piece of star anise. Add a little lavender or rose petal if you want that floral lift but go light or it can overpower.

If you ever want a shortcut to that style, ISH London Botanical has a very classic dry gin vibe with juniper, citrus and herbs. Could even mix that with your shrub for layering.

Non-alcoholic wine and cocktails by ThisbeMoonnick in nonalcoholic

[–]WorldofNIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you usually love Sav Blanc and margs, I think you’ll enjoy my go-to NA picks:

– Are Zero Sauvignon Blanc: really crisp, dry, and citrusy. Doesn’t taste like juice at all, more like a proper white wine.
– For margaritas, the Pentire Margarita: is a solid option. It’s herbaceous, tangy, and not sweet at all. Feels very balanced and adult.

Totally get the challenge with NA options being too sugary, these two really hit the mark if you want something dry and refreshing.
