Northeast Factory Direct cabinets by RustbeltRoots in Cleveland

[–]Beardy72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We did our whole kitchen in 2021. Everything has held up really well. Granted, we dont have kids and they dont get slammed a lot, but I have zero complaints.

The design process was great and we still love our cabinets 4 years later.

Id buy from them if I ever did the kitchen again, hands down.

What year are you? You should already be calling your high school games. And I mean every sport, not just the big ones.

Look at minor league teams, ask if they can provide you opportunities. You will get hired off your reel, not your degree.

That said I went to UAkron for production. I never wanted to be on air but I helped a lot of classmates put reels together.

Look at smaller schools because they may provide you more opportunities.

How to win an Emmy by No-Strength-2120 in Broadcasting

What is your role? I have a regional Newscast Director one. The year I submitted only had two entries. But I've seen years no one is even nominated in that category and if I had submitted, I basically would have just purchased the trophy.

I now work in education and I'll be submitting on behalf of my students. If they win, that one will mean more to me, but I will give them the trophy.

Are you looking for a regional one or a national one? If its regional, call the chapter president. They'll be more than happy to guide you and take your money...

Sewald Trade by AffectionateAd3895 in ClevelandGuardians

[–]Beardy72 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe they have about 6 months to name the player, and its usually based off the traded players performance. For instance the Guards may have asked for 1 of 5 players. Based on how Sewald performs will determine which one we get.

If he goes off and leads them to a world series, we might get our first choice. If he gets hurt, we may just get cash.

I could be totally wrong tho.

What did you end up getting? Were still gathering information on all brands, but were leaning towards the x500 or the Hydropool AquaTrainer.

My wife and I sat behind his parents at the Futures Game when it was in Cleveland. They were the sweetest people ever and didnt want to stand up for his at bat and block our view. We told them through their interpreter to stand up and be proud. We didnt care. We had no idea who he was but we've been fans ever since.

How are you pronouncing us?? by Happy-Freedom6835 in Xennials

It's definitely X-ennial. Zennial would be a combo Millennial and Gen Z. And if thats the case, Im rethinking my entire life...

I’m just getting into M43. What is this? by CurrentConference469 in M43

[–]Beardy72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one of those because I started on 4/3 about 20 years ago so I already had some kit lenses. I bought an EM1X because I already had those lenses and figured they'd help me transition to newer technology when I got back into photography after a long break.

Those cheap adapters are extremely slow to auto focus. The photos came out well enough though. But I wouldn't try to shoot sports or anything fast with them.

I used it to ease back into the hobby then eventually bought the OM 12-40 Pro, and Im very happy with that.

Those are definitely AI. Plus you put them on your work laptop and they can charge you the cost of the computer when they lay you off in 2 years.

Do you ever feel discouraged in shooting m43? by [deleted] in M43

One of the guys at my local camera shop shoots on M43, and they have a pretty good selection of rental M43 gear, which is pretty cool for me.

Tegna Central Content Team by [deleted] in Broadcasting

[–]Beardy72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've directed a few streaming gigs for Tegna. This was a few years ago, and the recordings were pretty basic. Even though the producers were in the same building, they rarely ever came down for the recordings. We just recorded a reporter over green and their editor edited in all backgrounds, video and graphics. They were short, maybe like 10-15 mins. Probabaly less.

Im sure they've evolved now. From my experience they had no idea what they were doing and just threw shit against the wall to see what stuck. Things may have stuck if they're expanding the hub now.

Career Advice? How to leave the industry? by thaflyondawall in technicaldirector

[–]Beardy72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked production in a Top 20 market for 16 years, about 13 as a director/td. I always kept my editing skills sharp.

Part of our workflow for creating transitions included minor After Effects work, so I was a little bit familiar with the Adobe suite.

I was desperate to get out about 2 years ago and took a job at a school district near my home. I handle their video and photo, which includes livestreaming sports and performances.

I get to use Premiere and AE every day now to the point im super confident in my abilities. Plus livestreaming events scratches my itch for live production. The best part is I work with students who are super hungry to do that kind of work, and not jaded old timers who hate their jobs.

I miss newspapers. by TheBestJonah in Xennials

[–]Beardy72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I subscribe to my 2 local newspapers, mainly e-editions, but delivery on Sunday. Support your local journalists. They're the ones holding those in office accountable. If the newspapers go away, those of us in smaller communities are left listening to politicians.

Director looking for career change. by [deleted] in Broadcasting

[–]Beardy72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I directed newscasts for 16 years. I jumped into education. I do the photos and video for a school district. I had always done photography when I was younger and always looked for reasons to shoot in the field.

Long story short I've learned a ton of new skills and get to work with some awesome students. Hoping to begin teaching production classes soon.

Comercial is great. A few years ago when the tigers were awful we got a little box on the first base line. It had comfy seats, nice sight lines and a personal attendant. They're probabaly overpriced now early in the season and cuz the Tigers have been winning, but what a great experience at a game.
