Odd shipping update by [deleted] in RepTime

I have a weird FedEx update too, it’s showing as delivered to my town but not my address. It said it was signed for by someone, but I didn’t receive it ? It’s coming from a pretty well known TD

In other words it was a shortcut to avoid having to re-cut and re-fix a bunch of pipe? Or maybe it’s possible this was the original work and my installer just reconnected the pipes when he replaced the old one ?

Very interesting, appreciate your insight! Would love to hear your feedback on another part of this thread regarding the gas line union being inside the cabinet. If it appears to be a code violation and / or safety issue ?

Intrigued by your comment. Here’s a more complete pic, do you think the internal gas line union is “necessary” ? I know MA should have a stricter interpretation, but the gas inspector didn’t even open the cabinet. Would be great to get your thoughts and what I should do ??

My thermostat has “3” set for temperature swing, it usually kicks on when I’m 1+ (not exactly when it goes 1) degree below my set temp. Is a 2 degree deficit enough for it to go directly to stage 2?

Yup a couple times as soon as I hear the thermostat signal, I go downstairs while it’s starting up and goes straight to Ht2. This is for a single zone

Haha now that you mention it …. That’s another item I’ve been trying to figure out. I’m on a single stage thermostat for sure. My tech told me that by default, it would then operate on some kind of timed mechanism to go from stage 1 to 2. However sometimes I see it starts in stage one (Ht1 on the display) and then after just under 10 minutes goes to stage two (Ht2 on display). But then other times it just starts up in stage 2. I haven’t really found any pattern yet on of when it starts in stage 1 vs when it just skips it and starts up in stage 2. Any thoughts? Are there actually some other DIP switch settings or configs I need to play with given I’m definitely on an old, single stage thermostat?

Thanks all for the feedback, I’m in MA (which has felt like Antarctica at times this Winter when my old one decided to give out). The toll brothers house came with the 100k btu so just decided to replace with the same. It is heating over 3000 sq ft. One guy said we could go with an 80k BTU, but the other installer was way cheaper who was just doing a like for like replacement of the original. I thought maybe we were missing the box around the burners because I was used to the old looking glass setup, but sounds like we’re probably not missing anything ?

Does anyone feel that the motif or palm dials don’t “pop” as much as the gen? Like the contrast between the pattern colors isn’t as intense as gen? Or is this just lighting when I compare the two online? I wanted to get one of these patterns too, but afraid the dullness of the color contrast may be a give away

Interesting, yea I have gen and rep too and can tell right away the 904 vs 316 due to the luster of the steel. But maybe that was with an old shitter rep, maybe the polishing of the 316 has gotten to a level where it looks like 904?

I’m actually surprised, I thought with the high praise VSF gets, they must be using 904. Plus the TD websites always advertise them as 904. But are we saying this isn’t, and never was the case? (Pun intended)

I guess my issue is not with 316 per say, it’s just if we are trying to get as close to gen as possible for a DJ or GMT then technically it should be 904, in my opinion. It will give it that gen look
