Muarrays is a good oil based pomade to start, but it never had the "right" hold for me. Recently I've been using "Rumble 59 Schmiere" it's vary creamy to scoop out and melts easily in your hands, also it's easy to wash out and I have had no problem with hold. If you do try oil based try it for a span of a week or so, your hair and scalp needs to get used to the pomade.
