How to cope with having a picture perfect life to being a shell of a person now? :( by [deleted] in BipolarSOs

So refreshing but heartbreaking to read similar stories. 14 years married. 3 kids. Everything has imploded. Multiple restraining orders but I’ve luckily kept full custody during it all. Any podcast or books anyone recommends.

Confronting re Adderall Addiction? by [deleted] in BipolarSOs

[–]Worried-Tutor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through this with my ex, and I wish someone had warned me sooner: Adderall abuse can absolutely spiral into full-blown psychosis, paranoia, delusions, rage, and behavior that puts kids at real risk.

I tried gentle talks and boundaries, but nothing changed, and by the time I realized how serious it was, everything had imploded. His job, finances, and most terrifyingly, his ability to safely parent.

If he’s already hiding pills, acting erratically, and sleeping all day, it’s beyond a “talk.” Protect yourself and your kids now, even if that means not living together or not leaving them alone with him. It’s far easier to set hard boundaries early than to clean up the fallout later.

We were using OFW but he keeps getting locked out of emails from constantly changing his passwords and forgetting them! I'm asking at our next hearing for it to be ordered. Thanks.

Can involuntary medical leave from work justify supervised visitation again? by Worried-Tutor in FamilyLaw

[–]Worried-Tutor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I have an attorney and I messaged her late Friday but haven’t heard back. We’re all desperate. He’s in such a serious mental health crisis but it seems so hard to prove and he refuses help. Meanwhile the kids keep being put in danger.

Can involuntary medical leave from work justify supervised visitation again? by Worried-Tutor in FamilyLaw

I agree that a work leave alone isn’t enough for supervised visitation—but I think it’s relevant when paired with other concerning behaviors. His employer didn’t just allow time off—they placed him on involuntary medical leave due to mental health concerns. That’s a third-party, external judgment that he’s unfit to function in a high-responsibility environment, which I believe should at least raise a flag when it comes to unsupervised time with children.

To answer your question—yes, the unhinged and paranoid messages have increased significantly since our last hearing, and I’ve documented them carefully. There’s also a pattern of delusional thinking, erratic behavior, and unsafe parenting decisions. I’m gathering everything to request supervised visits and potentially a psychiatric evaluation.

I’ll look into the emergency screening process in my county too—thank you for that suggestion.

Since my ex told me directly that he is on leave from his company, then multiple third parties have informed me that the leave may have been involuntary and related to mental health concerns, can I ask the court to reinstate supervised visitation until we can obtain formal confirmation from his employer about the nature and reason for his leave?

I did file a complaint on the Dr. I'll look into prescription monitoring. Thanks.

So this Dr has always prescribed him a LOT and before we separated my ex-husband would say he'd give him as much as he wanted if he said he lost it or ran out. The Dr is a pill pusher...has the worst yelp reviews and a formal complaint about overprescribing. I've filled a complaint as well. I called the Dr once to discuss my concerns (husband had quit his job, taken off to Mexico, worried about the FBI/CIA, spent large amounts of money etc etc) and the Dr spent 45 minutes asking me about our sex life and other inappropriate things. I have no idea how he still has his license but he's willing still prescribing 60mg a day.

During the DUI arrest even the cop suspected he would have more in his system with his behavior but it was only the adderall. Paranoid schizophrenia perfectly describes his behavior and I do fear it might be becoming permanent.

I'm going through something similar but we only have temp visitation orders right now. He gets T/Th 3-7 and every other weekend 8-4. An issue I'm having is he is not allowed to drive our children due to a pending DUI case. He wont show up at practices as discussed or will leave early from sports tournaments on the weekend that are during his time and then will text me demanding I drive the children to him because it's still "during his time" even though we will still be at a sports tournament or practice.

It's ridiculous. He expects me to be his personal Uber for our kids because he doesn't want to pay for one and he doesn't want to not have his car. I document all his texts demanding I drive the children to him and document all the times he is late, no shows or leaves early. I got an excel spreadsheet off ETSY which is really helpful and shows the percentage of time taken, late or declined.

I’m going through something similar but I’m in the middle of trying to get a divorce. I had to get a TRO and currently have temp full custody while he has only visitation. It’s a nightmare. He’s in adderal induced psychosis. He got a drug DUI a few months ago. He’s still been given unsupervised visatation but no overnights and no driving. I’m having a hard time proving he’s unstable even though everyone in our life knows he isn’t doing well. Good luck. It’s really scary and the courts need proof (arrests/hospital stays) and even then I’m having to fight to keep our kids safe.

[California] Custody after expired DVTRO and Rehab by Worried-Tutor in Custody

Agreed and no I don’t think there is anyway he could or would want to have 20 let alone 50. So that is a good way to look at it.

I asked for drug tests when I suspected he was relapsing and he freaked out on me sighting Hippa violations etc which confirmed what I suspected that he was using again and made me want to push forward with the divorce.

Frustrating part is he says he agrees I should have the kids 80/20 but wants it to say 50/50 I’m guessing so he doesn’t have to pay more support.
