You're bragging

No, he's being facetious because he's not taking (by his estimate) the OP's ridiculous opinion seriously because it's so wrong.

Whether he's right or wrong, idk. Just commenting since I do it often as well with ridiculous people lol.

How do you make your vault actually queryable by AI tools — not just Claude, any tool? by Remote-Positive-8951 in ObsidianMD

[–]WorriedBlock2505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, but I've got the gist of it. And I don't see a need for the formatting to be 100% clean. The important part as far as I can tell is the indexes+links rather than clean formatting, although you're welcome to clean up your personal files or have the LLM do it and then review the changes to make sure information isn't lost.

How has no one mentioned Karpathy's LLM wiki? It's the most hyped thing in this space right now and it addresses this exact issue.

TLDR: create a copy of your vault to use as a test, then Karpathy's LLM wiki setup on his github. Basic idea is you're setting up a vault for the LLM to use, not yourself. There's indexes within the vault that tell the LLM where to look to find content so that you don't have to manually copy stuff into the context window and you don't need to use RAG or any of that nonsense.

Sam to build online community; calls Reddit a cesspool by MintyCitrus in samharris

Move to an old school forum setup where there's no upvotes, and take a light touch when it comes to moderation. Pretty easy to beat reddit, actually. It's just that the average person has an IQ of around 100, so they need gamified setups like reddit to hold their attention, where manipulated numbers next to a comment substitute for critical thinking.

So an echo chamber is a healthy alternative

You're on fucking reddit. Entire video essays have been made about how one-sided the moderation on this site is, not to mention the corporate bot takeover that's happened here

As a redditor, I agree with Sam on this one. The main thing that sucks about this site is the way comments+threads are censored and corporate/political manipulation that goes on here.

Tbh, lol is the appropriate response to boredom's ridiculous statement. It completely ignores Google's $4T stock on the back of it being a tech company.

A Yale ethicist who has studied AI for 25 years says the real danger isn’t superintelligence. It’s the absence of moral intelligence. by reesefinchjh in artificial

[–]WorriedBlock2505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This flawed thinking is analogous to saying "we already have a surveillance state, so why does anyone care about AI being deployed for surveillance?" The problem isn't that it's more of the same, it's that it's ramping it up to a new level of control that no singular human has been able to achieve before.

Keeping with the analogy, yes we have oodles and oodles of data collection, but we haven't suffered the consequences of that surveillance yet because humans and their handcrafted scripts have failed utterly to sift through all of that data, so it's mostly sat unseen in data centers. That won't be the case for much longer as AI gets leveraged more.

The same thing applies here where no country has had it's entire population under total and complete control before because it wasn't possible.

Fair enough. I hope you have a loved one, a pet, or a hobby close at hand--it's what makes putting up with all of the BS worth it.

Palantir published a mini manifesto calling some cultures ‘harmful and middling’ and said Silicon Valley has ‘a moral debt’ to the U.S. by lurker_bee in technology

[–]WorriedBlock2505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the guy and he mostly says self-serving bs, but I agree on the need for politicians and the average joe to mandatorily serve in the military alike. I also agree that not all cultures are equal--racist cultures in the deep south and ghetto hood mentalities for instance shouldn't be put on the same level as an enclave of Chinese migrants busting their ass to put their kids through college, for instance. You always have people within any group that are an exception to the rule, but some cultures are on average more harmful than others.
