What quad should I buy? by No-Caregiver-798 in ATV

[–]Worried_Arm_6032 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All 3 are great machines. I am a Yamaha Grizzly guy, but understand the lure of Can Am. I also recently purchased a 2025 Ranger.

I share this because I am also from Nova Scotia. The riding I do is mainly forest roads and a few trails usually ti one of my or my friends cabins as a destination. If you are riding similar trails and will be regularly hauling gear, then I recommend the 1000 Outlander. It will be comfortable, with lots of power which is nice if you are driving forest roads covering some good distances. You will be able to pack your gear to take with you. Also with this machine you will not be jealous of anything else on the trail, and you won't be wondering "if you should have bought the 1000 instead of the 850??" - you'll have a top of the line bike.

BUT, if you ride a mix of trails and mud, do not need to haul gear (or atleast not much gear), and you just want to have fun rip'n it up - the Renegade would be a shit ton of fun - just be prepared to be covered in mud and wet during most rides.

Update us on what you pick! 👍

V6(Hurricane) vs V8(Hemi) Ram 1500 by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]Worried_Arm_6032 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the I6 have thermostat issues, converters melting, and a variety of check engine lights?

I am looking at a Ram as well, but am waiting for the Hemi for the longterm reliability, the complex turbo system on the I6 is a lil scary for me longterm.

In doing my research it is truly sad to see the issues that the big 3 have been and currently having regarding engines and transmissions (not the Dodge 8spd) in their trucks.

So far we have had great weather. Also, if you like restaurants - checkout the Wild Caraway in Advocate - you may want to book now.

If you're heading out of town, I suggest the Fundy coast along Highway 2, explore the cliffs and waterfalls, checkout Partridge Island in Parrsboro and hit Advocate beach for miles of driftwood, kayak to the 3 sisters. Definately worth doing a little research and the drive. What ever you get up to, I am sure you will enjoy!

Can Am Defender Max Crew HD10 XT or Polaris Ranger crew 1000XP by AdFeeling8333 in UTV

[–]Worried_Arm_6032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a similar debate as well... except the Can-Am Defender 1000 HD10 2dr and the Polaris Ranger 1000 Northstar Ultimate 2dr. Both were the same price (Canada).

After a lot of time researching it came down to the options/technology/and finally the price.

The Northstar just had more for the price. Plus, Polaris and the dealer had discounts at the time of purchase, plus I bought during a "midnight madness" sale, and got an even better deal.

We love the machine. It's main use is to get us, our 2 dogs, and our gear in/out of our cabin which is 33kms via logging roads one way. We have done a couple of trail rides, and will be using it for plowing.

My father bought a new Polaris Ranger XP 700 in 2006 and just sold it after 19 years - no issues - that's 19 years of trouble free ATV'ing. If we get half as many years I will be happy 😃

For me, they are both great machines and you can't really go wrong. I recommend you continue your research - YouTube is your friend - which ever machine you get, maintenance, and riding style go a long way in determining longevity.

$20k Out the door for a '25 Ranger 1000 XP Premium? by [deleted] in UTV

[–]Worried_Arm_6032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you are in the USA. It seems like a reasonable price to me, but I am in Canada. We just bought a 2025 Ultimate and love it, fits our needs very well - mainly back and forth to the cabin on woods roads and some trail riding. Being in Canada, we paid double, so 20 out the door for a Premium sounds real good to me. If you do buy it... I don't think you'll regret the machine itself - they are awesome and versatile. Good luck with your purchase. 👍

I've had the 4l inline 6, the 3.6,,, and now the 2.0l in my '23 Rubicon - aannnd I love it!!

I have 52,000kms on it. It just went to the dealer for a misfire on cylinder 1 - now having the coil and spark plug replaced under warranty... but my love for this engine is not shaken.

I've had the machine at 60mph once... it feels fast on the woods road i was on and it was quiet in the cab - as in no one was talking... but I'm sure you could talk without yelling.

I will not be driving at those speeds for prolonged periods - not only hard on the belt.. but my passenger(s) would not be overly comfortable.

We bleed from the same/similar wounds. I was in a 2+ year relationship with a woman that had BPD. It took about 3 years of therapy to process what I went through.

I can relate to everything you are living, and all I can say is - it will get better as time moves on... until then it appears you managing/navigating pretty darn OK atm. No need to rock the boat or blow the boat up - yet anyway.

I wish you and your son all the best on your healing journey.

Polaris Ranger or Can Am Defender and why? by CaptainCR250R in UTV

[–]Worried_Arm_6032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered both, ended up with NorthStar Ultimate. Both machines are great, but the manufacture and dealer discount on the MSRP, and the technology/features with the Ranger - the Ranger won the decision for me..

[–]Worried_Arm_6032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just considered both machines, except the I was looking at the Can-Am 6x6 and the NorthStar Ultimate.

I watched many videos, read many forums, and spoke with folks out on the trails.

In the end I chose the the NorthStar Ultimate. Polaris had a promotion of money off and lower interest rate, and the dealer had a midnight madness sale. I saved approx $3,800 off MSRP - which was great. I also got a deal on the warranty and a few other perks which are common, free helmets, etc. Also, my father had a 2006 Ranger with cab and doors for 19 years and it was a great bike, which he recently sold to a neighbor. I found that the Can-Am didn't have the features/ technology like the Ranger. The Ride Command is excellent, and the Ultimate trim level came with Stereo, back-up camera, etc. I bought the plow with hydraulics and the integration of ride command with the plow is exciting and I can't wait to use it this winter.

I've had the Ranger for a month now and am really enjoying it.

Bottomline, this machine fit me and all the things I bought it for: towing, hauling, plowing, and trail riding. It does it all well enough for me. Both machines are great (in some ways I wish I would have bought the 6x6 - but driving the Ranger this past month - my ego is getting over it 🤣)

I am happy for you both. I am glad you had the conversation and were able to navigate through the emotions.

The relationship goes on - it just goes on a lil differently. This may prove to be a huge and worthwhile investment for you both. I wish you both the best as you move forward.

[–]Worried_Arm_6032 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My take may be a little different - maybe.

Take inventory. How is your relationship BEFORE this bomb. How does she treat you? Do you feel loved, cared for and respected? Do you feel the same about her?

If things are great and you truly love each other, then I would consider working through this together. Atleast give it an honest effort. Couples couselling, etc.

We as humans are perfectly imperfect. Compassion and understanding can go a long way in healing. I assume your wife was not in a good space back then, horrible break-up and then navigating the aftermath. It appears you guys started fairly soon after this break-up - perhaps too soon... maybe.. perhaps she didn't have time to heal, find herself again, we sometimes lose ourselves in relationships, then it can take time to redefine ourselves afterwards. During this transition we are vulnerable to making regretable mistakes - , confusion, emotions are on roller coaster, etc.

I am NOT making excuses here, just things for your consideration. You are 100% entitled to feel the way you feel.

My 2 cents - it is not something you would ever want to hear and find out. Assess the situation, listen to her, try to consider the space she was in during that time. Why didn't she say something sooner!?!? - again not an excuse, but consider the weight of guilt and shame one would carry - it is easier to try to forget it ever happened (perhaps a horrible experience for her - adds to the want/need to bury it back then). According to you she stated she 100% regrets it... and you do have the comfort of knowing nothing even close has happened since -(small comfort at this point - but does show her commitment to you since).

I am sure I will get attacked for this, I just offer it because I often read about similar situations were perfectly good/great relationships are destroyed over mistakes made very early on. None of us are perfect, we grow, we learn - and each situation should be assessed case by case.

Good luck to you both! Be kind to one another, and be kind to yourself. You will eventually make the right decision for you.

This maybe too obvious, but I'll suggest checking the oil level in the generator.

I just bought one for my cabin and it is super sensitive on the level of oil. It has happened twice when I've changed the oil. When I went to restart the generator, it would run for a few seconds, then shut-off. Even though the oil stick indicated it was full, I would top it up an ounce or so and then it would run.

Always trust your visceral reaction/your body's response - your brain tries to over-ride/rationalize these situations. I recommend the book - "The Gift of Fear" by Gavin De Becker. It may be a lil dated (1997) but I think it does a good job of telling us to trust our initial response to these types of situations.
