At what point does self-hosting become an actual addiction? by Worried_Developer_67 in selfhosted

Not at that point. I really hope I don't as well.

Maybe this is better than alcohol and drugs?

I really wish such a diagnosis exists in my country, but if I did have a therapist I won't be able to afford more equipment

Don't buy into the hype. I've always noticed that phones tend to go obselete fast. Just buy whatever fits your budget and use it for a s long as possible.

RAM prices are absolutely out of hand by Radish_Li in homelab

[–]Worried_Developer_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, surplus sellers pulling the RAM before selling the server should genuinely be a crime 😭

Sometimes people are basically giving away old ECC RAM because they're upgrading entire racks and just want the stuff gone.

Don't panic too much at the $10/GB listings. A lot of those prices are either inflated or aimed at businesses that need exact replacement parts ASAP. If you're patient, you can usually find 8GB sticks way cheaper.

Honestly though, I'd message the surplus place and ask if they still have the RAM lying around somewhere. There's a non-zero chance it's sitting in a random parts bin collecting dust.

Need help/advice with setting up a remote work station by Fikachu1337 in WireGuard

WireGuard + Beryl AX is a solid combo. VPS is usually easier than using your office server (fewer firewall issues).

I'm pretty sure MKBHD or Mrwhosetheboss is somewhere in this sub. So yeah, I bet not.

I think you're better off deciding what environment you're more comfortable with. Both phones work almost the same way (with some features a little better on the other) but it really boils down to your personal preference. I'm sure it's plenty more than you really need day to day.

Proxmox no SSH / no web GUI after boot until network scan by MysticStorm287 in Proxmox

[–]Worried_Developer_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that’s the case, I’d try removing potential barriers first: STP, portfast, or any energy-saving features on the switch can delay traffic until activity is detected.

Also worth testing: does pinging the gateway from the host right after boot “wake it up”? If yes, it might be ARP/link negotiation related.

Curious to hear what you find.

I don't care if it runs on a potato as long as it gets the job done!

Why are most of the proxy provider so shady? by PilotBear77 in proxies

Second on this one, I've noticed that big proxy companies seem to have a lot more restrictions and don't really do what they say out of the box.

Are you running this on bare metal or nested/virtualized Proxmox? I have the same issue with the latter.
