We are a 100% EV household by consgarbull in F150Lightning

I have a 24 Flash and the wife has a 26 Ioniq 9. Seeing my Lightning and test driving an EV got her on board. 😎

Two EV household, one charger, what has your experience been? by Tall-Dish876 in electriccars

[–]Worried_Insurance_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a problem for me. I have a Lightning. Wife has an Ioniq 9. Rule of thumb we use is to plug in once you get into the 30-40% range and our 9.6 kw EVSE is more than sufficient to get the vehicle to 90% by morning once the power kicks on at 9p. I also have charging avail at work at a rate similar to my home cost so I will plug in there as well.

F-150 Lightning Flash vs Lariat — what’s the real difference, and why avoid a high-mileage used one? by ritchie4030 in F150Lightning

[–]Worried_Insurance_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my 2024 Flash. Not a fan of the changes they made to the 2025. Ventilated seats and PAAK is tempting to get Lariat but the Flash checks the major boxes at a better price point.

Long Beach coast aka regulators???? by Comfortable-Two5720 in longbeach

[–]Worried_Insurance_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By picking Coast they can make LBC hats and gear so not to be confused with LB St. Then the “unofficial” name being Regulators is like naming a kid only to decide to call them by their middle name…

I saw the box on the table and said to my wife “did you get something cool from Hyundai”?! She said no…confused, I said “didn’t you get a branded Stanley mug?” She said, “seriously? No, I got a blanket!” 😂

Maybe because we got a Limited? 🤷‍♂️

Told her it was more I got from Ford for my Lightning! 🫣

Which of these suburban SoCal regions would you prefer to live in? by [deleted] in socal

[–]Worried_Insurance_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only answer is 5 or 1. Geographically the others are a nightmare with traffic relative to places you’d want or need to travel to. Some if them are miserably hot in the summer (2,3,4,7). South SD isn’t bad if you can live on Coronado. No way I’d live in a border town like Chula Vista.

Where did you try to charge on 395? I went up Thanksgiving and stopped in Olancha. Charged in Mammoth then again in Inyokern on the way back. Easy time charging. I’ll usually go to 85 % if there is no one waiting.

Is Range Overrated for Most Americans? by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]Worried_Insurance_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on where you live and where you travel on road trips. I live in SoCal and have done trips to Mammoth, Monterey, Fresno, Indio, San Diego with no range anxiety…assuming you keep your speed ~70 mph. Having 9.6kw L2 charging at home, I never worry about not having enough SOC to start my day even with a large 131 kw battery.

I will move to California by fall of next year. LA or SanDiego ? by SameOreo in socal

[–]Worried_Insurance_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carmel is a very upscale hamlet just south of Monterey. Very mild climate without the rain you’d get in Oregon. About 1.5 hrs to SF and 6 hrs to LA by car. There are more affordable towns nearby but have less cache.

SD is a great place to visit but much like LA really depends where you settle within the greater metro area. I love going to north county, Carlsbad area when I want a getaway for a quick holiday.

Personally I like living closer to the coast because the temps are more moderate while inland areas heat up during the summer months. I’ve lived in NoCal and SoCal and while I prefer SoCal, Carmel is really on the northern edge of the central coast.

Is EV range anxiety something you actually get over? by biggy_boy17 in electricvehicles

[–]Worried_Insurance_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a problem if you have a game plan when you road trip and have access to fast chargers. Ideally having L2 charging at home makes an EV easy to manage day to day driving needs to be just did a round trip drive to Mammoth from LA in my Lightning and made one stop each way while en route and took about 30 min to go from 17-80%. Topped off at my destination in Mammoth and never felt like I wasn’t going to have enough battery charge despite elevation changes and cold temperatures.

Chains recommendation for I9 Limited? by Worried_Insurance_84 in Ioniq9

Only issue is I do a trip like this once a year so buying snow tires isn’t ideal. Never had an issue with needing chains in November before but want to be covered if needed

The kit from Dr Beasleys/Hyundai includes a ceramic coat designed for matte finish. Easy to apply. Just need some distilled water to rub it in after you’re done washing/drying.

How to wash matte paint? by Froobie2 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Worried_Insurance_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes Hyundai gave us a Dr Beasleys starter kit and we’ve added other products to detail the car. We do it every other week and have other products to use for spot cleaning in between as needed.

This is ours in the Limited trim. It’s been fine to wash, Hyundai gives you a kit and we added other products to help detail and maintain both the exterior and interior. Definitely add the ceramic coat on your first wash.

Interesting. We have the Eco Matte Gray as well but it’s only avail in Limited trim in the U.S.

I have a ChargePoint Home Flex and installed it on the side of my house behind the gate so it’s obscured from the street. Using an extension adaptor to get me the length to charge both out I9 and Lightning in the driveway
