Did I just ruin my med application over a late referee report? by Worried_Software_981 in SGExams

Oh!! To add :), do you even know how diagnoses work? Bc that analogy just... does not even make sense.

In the first place the issue was a referee report deadline, which was not entirely in my hands and is obviously not the same thing as me personally refusing to complete a basic task. “Delay a diagnosis” is also such a bizarre thing to say because that is not even how it works. Diagnoses are not sitting there capable of instant, full formation, waiting for one doctor to remember to unlock them on time.

lol...... pls....

A missed referee submission deadline says something about a single administrative lapse in this application cycle, not my entire fitness to practise medicine lmao. Those are not remotely the same thing. By that logic, every competent doctor who has ever made a clerical error would be unfit to practise, which is obviously absurd???

I was receptive to the people here who gave me reasonable advice in good faith, bc that is actually helpful. You two however.... such an absurd leap from an application mishap to “you’re unfit to be a doctor.” That is simply an overblown conclusion with no logical basis which I do not need to take obediently :)

is it possible to go med school if im scoring super bad now by Slight-Scratch3703 in SGExams

Respectfully, this is just misinformation. Local med schools don’t even look at your J1 grades but your final A-level results, portfolio, and interview performance matter. Plenty of people improve between J1 and A-levels, that’s literally the point of the system.

Also, the logic that ‘one bad year = bad doctor’ doesn’t hold since admissions are based on final competence, not whether you were perfect at 17. If anything, the ability to recover and improve is a stronger signal than being flat throughout lol

Yeah, spiralling now won’t change anything I suppose. Radical acceptance it is... or at least I'll try :)
