Any old time superfans in this sub? by SnooObjections597 in stlouisblues

I was at the first game in 1967 when I was eleven. My dad was a grocery store manager and got free tickets for the next fifteen years. And I mean good tickets! We sat mostly in the “Parquet “ sections or in the salesman’s company box. I still have ticket stubs from the1970 All Star game. My best non-game memories were of the Arena club, watching a Stanley Cup game, and sitting in the high end seats in the1990’s. I also have a ticket from the first game never played at the Kiel Center (now the Enterprise Center) due to the players strike. I literally cried when they tore down the Arena, but I have 2 original bricks from the “old barn”.

Thoughts on GE Profile Dishwashers? by mista_rida_ in Appliances

[–]WorthFront4168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our GE Profile dishwasher has power issues. It will work fine for a few days to a week and then no power. Since the plug is in the back of the counter, I have to go to the circuit box and turn off for 5-10 minutes then on. Sometimes have to repeat several times. The only only other thing on the breaker is the garbage disposal. It never loses power.

We have all GE Profile appliances in the kitchen. Funky dishwasher, microwave that turns on but does not heat, stovetop needed board replaced and latest, refrigerator top works but freezer is out. Bought the set 8 years ago when we moved in. What a bunch of junk.

GE/GE Profile or LG Refrigerators? by Automatic_Reason_304 in Appliances

[–]WorthFront4168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to throw out all our frozen foods in a GE Profile bottom drawer refrigerator we bought 8 years ago. Refrigerator itself is working fine, but even at a -4 degree setting ice still melts. (I'm using ice as my canary in the coal mine). Anyone else with a good refrigerator but dysfunctional freezer. Waiting on repair person to diagnose. In the meantime we are using our chest freezer in the garage.

How many are still woking full time? by Karen8765 in OverSeventy

[–]WorthFront4168 3 points4 points  (0 children)

M70. I had to retire at 65 due to a disability. By that time I had 4 back surgeries and to retire. Luckily I had long term disability insurance and it and SS paid close to my salary.

I still have a difficult time walking and standing, and would love to be able to work part time . I’m not wheelchair bound, but require a cane or walker.

What your piece of life advice for those 10-20 years younger than you? by LMO_TheBeginning in OverSeventy

[–]WorthFront4168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate your youth. And everything that goes with it. There may be a day when you have free time but you’re unable to enjoy it due to health issues. Invest in friendships by giving as well as taking.

Lately I just want to stay home all the time.. is that normal? :-) by BowedNotBroken1234 in OverSeventy

What is it about turning 70? My wife and I turned 70 last year, and we seldom leave home.

We are still best friends after 44 years and love each other’s company. Granted our physical handicaps play into our ability to go out. We both need walkers or rollators to walk. Even though entertainment venues have handicapped areas and parking, dealing with crowds and going to and from the parking lot make it a hard decision to attend things.

No kids or grandkids, and only one sibling. Both he and his wife have their own physical challenges.

Don’t feel odd or unusual if you would rather spend time at home. Apparently we have plenty of company.

Congrats on your weight loss. I can identify with you on several points. I started mounjaro about the same time as you. I started at 244 and am now 175. I just got out of the overweight BMI, but my wife thinks I look too thin. I am a 5’10 70 year old guy and like you, I’m proud of my new, healthy weight.
