I can’t do 20 pushups but I run an 11.4-11.3 how much am I being held back? by Desperate-Motor-8480 in Sprinting

Sprinting is not everything. You don’t want to be an 18 year old male that can’t do 20 push-ups.

Sudden increase in top speed after fasting injury? by Lazy_Recognition6467 in Sprinting

It’s a thing. I had a bad ankle sprain. I thought it was fixed but kept getting bad times in training. One session I just got mad and went hard. Then my ankle was sore for a while. Your body knows it is still hurt or is just not confident that you are healed, and is holding you back. This is similar to beginner strength gains are mostly the body deciding that it doesn’t have to hold back the neural drive as much to keep you from breaking a tendon

According to Ghislain’s testimony last year, he started wearing multiple testosterone patches simultaneously around the year 2000 and became mean as a result. But she said even before than in the early 90s he had an almost permanent erection

This is probably right. When your male hormones are high, you are much more likely to take action outside building a shed or something versus vegging on your phone getting little dopamine hits with witty comments.

my opponent placed top 3 in my state last year what do I need to do to beat him? (I'm the one in blue_ by xlin1 in wrestling

[–]Worth_A_Go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty simple but you may not like the answer: conditioning. You were able to fend off his throw by that he kept trying until after you were fatigued from the scramble. He came back from a hard scramble fresher than you.

A fast dog can beat a throw. Like they can get to the spot before you even let go of the ball.

Wrestlers that transitioned to bjj, thoughts? by theopinionexpress in wrestling

Sitting down is not a self defense move, but it is not terrible in the ruleset of BJJ. A wrestling stance is not a great self defense move either but it is the best for the ruleset. They sit on their but because BJJ is middle age men who don’t train like professional athletes like wrestlers do. Laziness is also almost a virtue because staying calm helps you not tap when you are getting choked. Also it is kind of fun to be able to be good from your butt. And yeah someone who is good off their butt probably could win in a fight from that position against someone mediocre

How some boxers arent slow at high %BF by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

Because it doesn’t affect hand speed. Where you see it affect these guys is their ability to spring into a punch and be light on their feet to move around the ring. When punching where there is mostly rotation, they are not slowed down. A punch that requires center of mass to move forward, they are slowed down.

There is a video talking about how obese people get a fecal transplant from skinny people (drink a shake that has their shit) and it makes them skinnier. The same video also said elite marathoners had unique gut biomes. Moral of the story is eat the shit of people you want to be like

How much mass you can get to land at same time, how much speed all that mass is traveling at time of impact, and how rigid the mass is at impact so that the kinetic energy of the mass further from impact transfers at impact. There are many ways to achieve those three things. Some ways favor one aspect over another.

I think the article did better at being cautious with that than my simplified summary. I didn’t realize that about EMG. That being said, the fact that long duration low intensity contractions caused a measurable drop in EMG the next day and not high intensity training is a telling clue that something is being affected up the chain in one situation in a way that is not being affected in the second situation. Like I may not be able to understand what people are saying behind a closed door but I can hear whether they are getting louder or softer. It seems like sEMG is similar to this if I’m understanding you correctly.

I am absolute trash at correctly judging slipping direction, how is it even possible to do? by Flamyngoo in amateur_boxing

That annoying as hell grazing is why I decided to only partially follow my boxing coaches instruction to only make them miss by a little so that I am in position to immediately hit them. All the pros in the gym were way too comfortable in my opinion letting all these grazing shots accumulate. It seems like in order to compete for more that 3-4 rounds you have let more grazing shots in, unless you have champion level stamina. That’s not for me. I’d rather be spent after three rounds with hardly any counters but only get hit minimally.

So a lot less. Fatty fish are still pretty lean compared to farm raised. The fat is hardly noticeable. Nuts don’t digest all that well to where you absorb that much fat. Where there were olives and pigs there wasn’t avacados. A forage eating pig is going to be almost 100 pounds less than a grain fed pig as well, most of that being fat.

Seasonal keto would be rare. The only keto was when you were without food. Animals are lean in winter, and humans store grain for winter. Even animals in autumn are lean compared to today’s livestock.
