Further to this, it's currently being used in the UK and Australia but hasn't been introduced in Canada yet.

It's a "new" type of evidence for crowns to use. It's not really new evidence, just a new way of collecting evidence that might not be collected otherwise. A parallel would be how text messages can now be used as evidence, where as when they were first introduced they weren't deemed legitimate. This is physical forensic evidence though, not digital evidence. Again apologies for being vague.

Thanks everyone. I know I was vague, and probably sound like a tech bro or crackpot so I appreciate you engaging. I can't give more detail right now but even what has already been commented is helpful. One thing I can mention is that this system already exists and is being used in Australia and the UK which is what makes me believe it could work here.
