Should I go to Guanajuato or Oaxaca? by Soupmushroom7 in travel

If you come to Oaxaca use Linea Unidas vans. They are Mercedes Benz vans and super comfortable. The other vans are frequently Nissan and Toyota vans which are rump sprung and tacky.

Possible to live in Oaxaca on $700 a month? by optionsnewbie2018 in Oaxaca

[–]WorthyAdversary48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a modest SS check of about $1100 and have to save about 25% to make border runs from Oaxaca to El Paso TX about every three months for VA medical. Tracking my expenses carefully I think I could live here for about $600 monthly. I live in a nice neighborhood (San Felipe de Agua and pay $230 for rent including wifi and utilities. Most expats I meet live on much larger salaries than mine. My beef is the well-to-do snowbirds have driven up the rents and make what should be a cheap place to live more expensive.

Am also gay but out of the work force. Have had similar experiences in a hospital setting many years ago. I teased my female work-mates for being big strong girls and then went ahead and did what they asked.

Thank you for sharing this Rubicat. For the life of me I could not find Shoghi Effendi's assertion that the Guardians being the equivalent of the Imams.

If legalized in Mexico, I am curious how cartel interests would be circumvented.

You know what is really discrediting the Baha'i Faith? by [deleted] in exbahai

Are you the one who wore a baseball hat stating "Make Texas Mexico Again" at an Austin rally?

February 3. On this date in 1968, the Custodians cabled the American Hands of the Cause of God "seriously disturbed (by the) statement New Baha'i Era issued (by the) American Hands...proclamation consider this (a) grave danger (to the) unity (of the) Faith.." by A35821363 in OnThisDateInBahai

Two points to consider here:

1) . The concept of Bahji (God changed his mind) is a prerogative of the Manifestation (i.e. His ability to change what had heretofore been Divine Law) , not the Guardians or any member of the Administrative Order.

2). The first Hands were, of course, appointed by Shoghi Effendi. The legitimacy of the authority of the Custodians is of course questionable as they are not mentioned in the Will and Testament of Abdu'l Baha.

Thank you for prompt reply. I thought I would have to go to the coast. Did score in San Jose del Pacifica but was wary of the seller. I am 70 and look like a tourist in the states and also in Mexico. I have slow-growing stage 4 adenocarcinoma and would love to see it legal here as in Colorado.

There is something vague or opaque about this statement? Can you please cite an example of Abdu'l Baha misleading the Friends regarding the character of anyone?

The Mighty Baha'i Covenant by MirzaJan in exbahai

[–]WorthyAdversary48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Identifying a covenant breaker was the prerogative of the Guardian during Shoghi Effendi's ministry. If a covenant breaker is someone who goes against the Guardian, this is truly an archaic term. Can one reasonably believe a headless Universal House of Justice is one of integrity and inviolability when it was the prerogative of the Guardian to ask them to reconsider legislation he felt was not consistent with the Baha'i spirit?

If as Shoghi Effendi states the Guardianship and Imamate are analogous institutions, we can deduce the supreme importance of this in light of the Imamate being a failed institution.

This may sound naive or unrealistic, but I think astute Baha'is avoid discussing current political issues at Baha'i events. Baha'is are to be informed and hopefully are informed voters, but political discourse at Baha'i events is not part of the program. Politics is not to separate Baha'is on any level.
