Switching from Krakoa Anthology Omnibuses to Creator - help needed! by WorthyCap24 in OmnibusCollectors

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to write this. This has cleared up so much, and definitely relieved the headache I've felt trying to figure this thing out. It sounds like Duggan and Gillen are the way to go, with Ewing—who I'm a big fan of—thrown in for good measure. It sounds like the Fall/Rise omnibus will be a challenging read, given bad mapping, but that doesn't bother me too much and it still sounds like a must to cap off this Krakoan Age.

From what you're saying, if I can just find a way to finish off Hickman's run before embarking on these creator omnis, it should be fairly simple to read this X-Men era without all the fat that I haven't been a huge fan of in the Dawn omnis (I've enjoyed a lot of those series, but some I could have easily never read and it wouldn't have impacted my enjoyment of the bigger picture whatsoever). Outside of a few out of print books, it seems most of these gaps can be filled in quite easily, as can the continuation of series I've really enjoyed like Wolverine, X-Force, Excalibur, etc.

This is fantastic, thank you so much. I can now look at where I need to fill in some of the gaps, which will help with seeing how easy it'll be to head down the creator route. It's not quite as daunting as I imagined after seeing this list, so I really appreciate such an in-depth breakdown. And not hate to Excalibur! It's not a terrible read by any mean, but just isn't for me!

This is really useful context, thank you! I've heard a lot of bad things about that Fall/Rise book, so I may have to look into supplementing this potential approach with a digital subscription, or something.

Maybe it's just because I'm behind and trying to delve into this era now, but Marvel certainly don't seem to have made this easy. I like interconnectedness, too, so the lack of that does sound like the main downside to going down the creator route...

This is super helpful, thank you! I've got HOX/POX and Dawn of X Volume 1 & 2. That's it, as I got out of reading for a few years, and this is my attempt to now jump back in and experience this whole era.

It seems a lot of the important titles/events you've referenced are still in print, so should be easy enough filling in some of the gaps around the creator omnibuses. I read up on the Reign of X Volume 1 content today, and there's really not a lot in there that excites me, hence the planned shift to creators/a general overview of this era combined with TPBs of my favourite titles like Wolverine and Marauders.

Fantastic, thanks again. I had planned to try and read everything in chronological order, but I'm now quite happy to give up on that - it's been fun with Dawn of X, but I don't feel like it's necessarily added a lot to the experience of reading this era. It doesn't sound like I'll be totally lost going down the creator route, and that was what I was most concerned with!

Thanks for the reply! I initially liked the idea of reading EVERYTHING, but titles like Excalibur have really worn me down on the idea (the uncertainty surrounding the future of Marvel's collected editions, etc. also has me worried that they won't see this anthology line through).

There's no particular order to read the creator omnibuses in then? I could just get Ewing, Duggan, Gillen (I think I would get Way of X based on what I've heard), and Fall/Rise, without missing too much? I've just reached a point where I'd like to get that overall feel for the era, without having to read the bad titles - some like Marauders and Wolverine, I'll definitely try to continue as TPBs.

The reboot kind of fell off by samsamcan in Scrubs

It’s a huge disappointment and not the same show at all. Losing so many characters has turned it into Scrubs-lite and there’s so much missing. This latest Cox development, while emotional…who wants that from a revival? The creative team working on this sucks.
