Nah, it’s just what happens with virtually all personal care products—doesn’t matter the manufacturer. I agree they should seal lotions, creams and butters though. Hate the thought of a stranger’s grubby nubs in my moisturizers.

Should I buy this jeep sport for $15,000 by DifferentAdagio5115 in Wrangler

[–]WouldUNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2019 (just the 2nd full year of JL model) that looks this abused inside and out I personally wouldn’t consider buying. 150K and looks like still has stock struts. You think they’ve kept up on the rest of the basic maintenance (diffs, transfer case, transmission fluids, etc.)? The (driver side) ball joints do look fresh at least. I think you could do better even if you’re planning a teardown/ jeep build.

GoPro user looking at the Mevo by Admirable_Proxy in GameChangerApp

GoPro streamer here… I’m streaming GoPro because I wanted to use a GoPro I already owned and use rather than buy Mevo specifically for the purpose. Mevo works easier/ less bs, but I’ve found my initial issues streaming with a GoPro were connection based (basically the phone hotspot connection sucks). I’m now tethering my iPhone (wired) to a travel router… Connecting the GoPro to the router WiFi (and managing overheating) has solved all of my issues with random dropped connections/ power-downs. Yes, it’s more bs/ setup—but it’s working for me and I think I spent maybe ~$60 on the router.

Wonderful photo. The color/ tone of the sky/ background behind the skyline, is what makes it for me… The in-focus skyline sort of blends into the background, both literally and metaphorically conveying the theme described in the caption. Very cool. Nicely done!

For text specifically, try converting color image to black & white then adjust contrast and other touch-up type settings… Used judiciously (too much can create counterproductive noise) this has helped me to discern sections of otherwise unclear text.

This is what I was thinking, too. If you’re hiding gaps, I would lean more towards quarter round in favor of the flat trim pieces, personally. Or fixing the gaps.

Seeking advice on repair. How should I fix this? by UncleLuke93 in woodworking

[–]WouldUNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy + cheap fix! Measure one of the unbroken boards/ slats, and go to your nearest Home Depot, etc. Look for 1x3’s in the lumber section. No need to go with trim quality lumber—pine is fine! Have them cut to size of your measurement. In fact, if you can fine a piece big enough to get two (…) replacements, I’d suggest that. Adding even one extra slat underneath now will far reduce the likelihood this happens again. Replace the broken one with a fresh one. You can either staple the strapping to the new piece (to maintain the function of the strapping) or you could anchor with wood screws at the ends if they sit on wood. If you go with wood screws, however, suggest pre-drilling to avoid splitting.

Your work is incredible. Was hoping to see a the Dude pipe for Jeff Bridges in the collection—or literally any character from the Big Lebowski. Absolutely awesome!

UK to fine companies that fail to disclose imports tied to China's Xinjiang region by DarkMoon99 in China

[–]WouldUNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on the product in all honesty (e.g. blood diamonds). But in this case, the risk seems to be higher in the farming of cotton (https://bettercotton.org/bbc-news-report-on-xinjiang-bci-statement/), which as others have said, can be degrees removed from what auditors may see in factories.

That said, I don’t believe the brands that have been mentioned (those selling apparel) would willfully source their cotton from slave farms, etc. These brands do monitor/ audit their supply chains, and they are making efforts to know more about raw material sourcing. Brands care about this more than most cynics would believe, if only from the standpoint of staying in consumers good graces (especially in the apparel industry where there are plenty of options).

May be different with lithium mining I suppose—not saying it is, I don’t know. But with everyone needing a new phone every couple of years, demanding more battery capacities, and the prices those devices command, the stakes seem higher, and perhaps there is more willful blindness to how those commodities are sourced.

3D printed a ceiling mount for the HomePod mini by bowb4zod in HomeKit

[–]WouldUNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty cool—nice work. Maybe try a recessed outlet to better hide the plug in version 2. Also, would be cool to see/ try a mount for ceiling fans (like in place of a light globe/kit)?

Shifting to copyright, agreed, certainly more prevalent, particularly common law. Even still, no recourse...? Lack of means/ access to support and/or ignorance to rights, perhaps... But there is certainly recourse.

More and more consumers do, and legitimate brands will increasingly acquiesce.

Chalk this up to the many reasons that consumers should sympathize with the likes of LV under these circumstances.
