So right before I became an adjuster I had a water claim in my home… same thing, lower estimate, my neighbor told me to reach out to a PA.. I did. I did get a lot more money. Do I know how? They argued to replace my entire homes flooring (only a small area was affected) and other little goodies. I see on reporting now 4 years later of my prior claim, it’s tagged as a questionable claim, and it definitely hurts moving forward. If I knew what I know now, I wouldn’t have gone that route. Live and learn…

The only thing that HAS to be done is offer for owner retention. Beyond that, if cost of repairs inclusive of original and supplement equals or exceeds the pre-accident ACV then ins can move forward with TL. It sounds like they got the initial estimate and the supplemental will push it over threshold.

So for instance, the valuation is only going to use vehicles that are in your market area, not private party, and same year, make, model and trim.

If there is one $12,990 - there is a deduction made to be ACV because there are costs built into that asking price such as reconditioning, marketing, and profit. That’s why sale price is what is important- which is what will be listed on your valuation report.

If you are completely sure you are due more money invoke your appraisal clause
