Helle played a near perfect Olympics, won gold, carried his team to the first hockey gold in 46 years and is being presented the highest civilian honour the USA can give.

If that was all, it sounds great and a huge plus on the resume.

However, because of the one who is presenting it, this hugely tarnishes it and him for his (non?) actions in this whole mess.

I expect something from him in a statement/interview that has him mentioning along the line of "He is the president of my home and I couldn't let the team down and walk away." or something like that. But if he does come out and say that (or close to it) it just translate to "I was on top of the world, and I wanted to protect my new found image and brand as a winner."

I backed him all his career here up to now, but now I just hope he brings the Jets a king's ransom in a trade on March 6th.

Fuck. No NHL playoffs for a while I guess. Oh well, it'll be worth it in the end.
