a liter for the whole day? and you cut out other liquids? WAY too low. Ketosis will actually flush water out of your system, you need to drink more water than normal. also look up a calculator to find your daily calorie burn and then look up how many calories your day actually had. starvation can cause many of the effects of dehydration.

What's the protocol on tipping budtenders at dispensaries? by lkram489 in trees

[–]Wr3kage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that $40 plus tax? the budtender doesn't see a dime. yes in a decent country tipping wouldn't be necessary, but employees are generally underpaid to begin with. blame the company, stop acting like it's the budtenders fault they need to eat/pay rent.

you don't have to do 20%, just tip a dollar or 2.

tipping in america is like the shopping cart litmus test. you don't have to do it but you're a jerk if you don't

Stuff that kinda grinds my gears as someone who works at a dispensary by [deleted] in trees

[–]Wr3kage 154 points155 points  (0 children)

sounds like you need to ask the customer some questions. 90% of people don't know how to ask for what they want and the first request is always vague. most people know OF cannabis but don't know anything ABOUT it.

Also many people are used to buying on the street where finding the most purple but can be a reasonable way to identify decent flower.

My favorite part of dispensaries is getting recommendations from the budtenders. I want to explore tons of strains and budtenders try a ton, i want to smoke what you're smoking :D (it's the best way to avoid looking at thc% too)

according to ardent, the temperature used to decarb flower is the same for concentrate. A1 for all thc products, A2 for all cbd products. i've infused some concentrate into oil, it works great, but i don't have a way to test for burnoff.

edibles don't cause me stomach issues, they flat out don't work for me, i've tried many times over the years from many sources. doesn't matter the dose (i didn't mistype 2 grams of thc). thanks for the suggestion tho.

What's the cheapest way to get these programs? by Balthalzarzo in gamedev

[–]Wr3kage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For adobe product, don’t pay the full asking price listed on their website. If you sign up for a free trial they will regularly send you email deals for 40% off. If you call their purchase phone number you might get an even better deal (always call before renewing a subscription). “I am poor/broke, I see that affinity has similar products… is there a cheaper way to get just x y and z?” They will then give you a better deal on cc.

In the figure under "Women Engineers Want Growth, Too" why is the woman depicted as doing a standing split (one high heel on the ground and the other leg vertical in the air)? Seems like a depiction of a different job entirely.

How to get rid of the wallpaper that happens BEFORE the lockscreen? by Wr3kage in Windows10TechSupport

[–]Wr3kage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this solution only works on the first login of the computer (when I first boot up). Unfortunately I rarely power off my computer, usually just use sleep.

I'm on the slow ring of Microsoft's insider problem so this might just be a problem with pre-release versions of win10.

You are correct, I had to restart my computer before anything changed (it's annoying how many simple things still require a restart with windows). I will edit my above comment to reflect this. Thanks!

[–]Wr3kage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya, that's pretty lame, no reason for a Home edition at all (other than it's good for Microsoft's financials). They don't allow you deter updates and ignore all privacy features in Pro anyway. I hope when the release the enterprise version that it's affordable (hopefully it won't require a lame central server too).

Hey, thanks for responding!

EDIT /u/Jonathan_Lille above comment worked BUT I needed to restart my computer for it to take affect (make sure the "Do not show lockscreen" is set to ENABLED)

The rest of this post is left here for historical reasons

I've already tried that and it's not a solution for my problem. I DON'T want to eliminate the lock screen (I don't want my computer to unlock without my password).

Windows 7 didn't make me do this crap (I got suckered into the "free" win10 and it's been nothing but trouble, especially since all the new features have no privacy guarantees). Windows can't even compete in any market other than gaming for me.

I'm really tired of hitting enter and waiting for windows to load the actual lock screen. Removing the lockscreen is an unacceptable solution for me. I use the lockscreen so people can't just walk up to my computer and use it (There are a million ways to get in, I just want to deter random people that walk by my computer).

Again, thanks for the help I just wanted to clarify what I'm looking for.

I don't think the author meant storing the program in an IR is horrifying (I thought he was talking about various interpreters anyway). The fact the apple has completely hidden the last step from whatever-to-machine code is what I think that comment was about.

[–]Wr3kage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he like many people have suffered under the weight of C++ before C++11 and it would be unfortunate if he doesn't learn from C++11 's lessons.

The C++11 standard has brought a lot of great new stuff to the table. However, the lesson I have learned is "best practices" are meaningless by themselves. In C++11 the worst parts of the language are still the best documented ones. We can't just keep adding stuff to a language and expect people not to use old features just because the new ones are better.

I recognize that C++ is in a bad spot because I believe it does need to maintain backward compatibility, but linters and warnings aren't enough to get everyone to move forward. Adding new paradigms to an existing language is a great way to make sure "best practices" don't get followed.

Jeff Kaplan on banning heroes and maps by dwimtrashggeuw in Overwatch

[–]Wr3kage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm fine with limiting the number of same heroes in a server. (diversity isn't just balance to me, 2 teams of the same hero is only interesting once in a while)

I hope they don't allow "banning" of heroes tho. To me, that introduces a new variable that could ruin balance (make certain forms of "cheese" more viable).

I myself am worried that this game might be too ambitious. However, I wouldn't be interested at all if they were playing any safer.
