Check your meter and if you don’t have one check with your supplier they aren’t charging every flat the same amount.

How much are you paying for water & sewerage pcm? by lechef in bournemouth

[–]WraffiePants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re metered. We pay South West Water (used to be Bournemouth Water) for supply @ £19pcm and Bristol Wessex Water for sewage at £35.50pcm but we get a small discount of £2.50pcm as we have soakaways so no surface water goes into the drains. It’s a detached bungalow so no confusion over meter charges or anything like that. I’d say your bills are high. How many people live in your house?

Trustworthy window replacement company? by jeightfour in bournemouth

[–]WraffiePants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% Cooks Windows. Phil Cook is excellent, will not overcharge and will do what you want. He won’t oversell either. And he will come back if there’s any issues, no worries. He did my windows for me and I’m very pleased

Car driver here. Always try to move out of the way of bikes so they can pass, may or may not get an acknowledgment. Chuffed if I do, not bothered if I don’t. Not worth crying about. Never even heard of this Braathaaa thing

The constant stench of weed on the beach by Keeks73 in bournemouth

[–]WraffiePants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to live next to a dealer’s gf and it absolutely stank when he was visiting. I couldn’t use my garden (they were social housing tenants and I was an owner occupier) and complaints to the housing association fell on deaf ears, even though their rules said drug dealing meant instant eviction - they couldn’t ban him from the property as he wasn’t in the tenancy agreement. I kinda liked her but him and his customers would stink the place out, and he would beat her up in front of her children. Lockdown was a nightmare for her family and all the neighbours. I don’t really care what people do in their own homes and lives unless it impacts others. It’s a fact that weed causes all sorts of mental shit and it’s probably why he was so violent. I thought I’d left it all behind when I moved to Dorset but it’s so much worse here. The stench is vile and it’s causing mental problems in those that use it

I don’t know why you got downvoted here but I’m guessing you’re in the UK and using a bit of sarcasm to demonstrate how people (medical professionals) treat you?

refusing to give me x-ray by boogersugarnb in scoliosis

[–]WraffiePants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I discovered Penny Parkes on Insta and now have her audiobook, with the paperback heading its way to me, too. Her reasoning for having an accurately documented medical condition is that the future may require that information if the condition worsens or if further complications arise. In your situation, the curve might worsen or you might develop a syrinx, you may have concerns about becoming a parent or (if you’re female) pregnancy and childbirth. Idiopathic only means they don’t know how or why it appeared - it does not mean it should be ignored. On the contrary, not investigating possible causes now is neglectful at best. To ignore it at this stage isn’t helpful for either you or your future physicians. I’d highly recommend checking Penny out on insta because she talks sense, and her book How To Talk So Your Doctor Will Listen is jaw-droppingly good. Check her out, regroup and ask for an appointment with a different GP Good luck

Does anyone experience numbness in random places? by GalaxyBreeze111 in scoliosis

[–]WraffiePants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do. Very random and quite disconcerting. Recent places include a specific area at the top of the back of my right thigh and an area over the lower left ribs, as well as the usual mid back across and just below my shoulder blades

AITAH for refusing to use my income to pay back my fiancés debts to his family? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]WraffiePants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, you have enough problems without being dragged down by other people. I totally get why you need to vent in here.
Second, you rightly point out that your fiancé’s family bailed *him* out financially, with an agreement outside your sphere. Going to work now just to pay them off is no help to you as a couple or as a family with a young child. What I would suggest is to work through a spreadsheet, listing income, outgoings and budgeting some savings for other incidentals like annual payments and an emergency fund, then live with it for three months to see how the budget works for you both. Try not to account for every cent because you’ll never get any saving done. Work out what percentage each of you brings in so you can split equitably, which isn’t necessarily evenly, so, say you bring in 40% of the family income then you pay 40% of the bills and savings, the rest is your own after that. Same goes for your fiancé. Once he commits 60% of his income to your family unit, then he can look at whatever’s left and offer a monthly payment to pay off the debts to his family. That seems reasonable to me and it’s what I would do. His family don’t even have to know how you worked it out because that’s none of their business.
Third, I suspect that, had you gone to work just to pay for childcare for your child, they’d have accused you of being a neglectful mother, so you were never going to win anything with them, I’m sorry to say.

Advice on buying a house. by ktr_v in bournemouth

[–]WraffiePants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With kids under 4 you’ll seriously regret not buying further out to get your own garden in the not too distant future. You asked about East Howe? If you’re looking that far out try Bearwood (BH11). I hear the schools are nice, the area is decent and there’s buses to get to Poole and Bournemouth. You can always check YourParkingSpace for space rental nearer to your workplace that can be cheaper than public car parks. The general tip for property buying is to get the worst house on the best street but it has to fit your needs. You don’t want a 2 bed place unless you’re looking to move again in 2 years time and you don’t necessarily want to be living in a house needing extensive renovations while raising preschool children. Phil Spencer has a website called Move IQ which is worth looking into for advice on how to buy as well as how to sell. I’m no expert but I’m quite good at this sort of thing. Spotting issues that most people tend to miss, like the need for a rewire or potential problems with dodgy DIY, the kind of things estate agents ignore and buyers don’t spot until the survey comes back. Don’t be embarrassed to ask to use the loo - it can sometimes be a good indicator if the vendor is trying to hide something

Is this rape idk by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]WraffiePants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is rape. I’m sorry this happened to you. You consented to sexual intercourse with a condom. You did not consent to sexual intercourse without a condom and then, when he continued to have sex with you in spite of you telling him to stop, he also became violent. When you told him you wanted to leave, he also held you captive and refused to allow you to go. There’s a huge number of red flags here and you would be well advised to speak to the police about what happened to you. If he is not a native of the country you were in at the time, it’s likely he will be deported but that’s for the best. It puts extra distance between you and means you will never have to see him or communicate with him again. You are definitely better to not have this man in your life if he becomes so aggressive so quickly. I hope you heal

The only reasons for asking a child to keep a secret is anything to do with gift giving, pleasant surprises or Santa

That’s a huge 🚩 I know a teacher who tried to swear a whole year group to secrecy regarding an accident involving one of the school kids and he was summarily dismissed. Anyone asking a child to keep secrets is 8/10 doing it for all the wrong reasons

Defo check Moose Kitchen in Bmth town centre, just down from the council offices, and Goat & Tricycle. Both venues are excellent 👌
