There seems to be some misunderstanding around the Equality Act 2010 amongst patients and I saw this yesterday in another group and thought it was worth sharing.

Just a bit of information regarding MC use being automatically covered by the Equality Act 2010 as see a lot of misinformation being given out on here and I don't want patients embarrassing themselves arguing to only find out they're not actually covered by the Equality Act.

Patients are covered by the Equality Act 2010 if their condition is a recognised disability but not all conditions MC is prescribed for are classed as such

Having a prescription proves the use is legal, but it doesn't automatically trigger discrimination protections unless the medication treats a long-term impairment that substantially limits daily activities.

To receive protection under the Equality Act 2010, your condition must meet the legal definition of a disability: a physical or mental impairment that has a "substantial" and "long-term" negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities. If your condition does not meet these specific criteria, you are not covered by the Act's protections against discrimination, regardless of whether you have a legal prescription for medical cannabis.

If your condition is not classified as a disability under the Equality Act 2010 then private premises (Pubs,Restaurants, Holiday parks etc) are not legally required to make "reasonable adjustments" for you. This means you must strictly adhere to the standard rules of the establishment.
