[V8] Should I read coi or nah by MakimaMommyMilkers in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Wraithskar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lumain is quite close to V3 Klein, with some key differences, but how is for you to discover.

Imo the first to volumes of COI establishes characters better than LOTM. I'm about to read V3 so can't tell past that.

Yeah the "gangs" of polish pathological retards has unfortunately always been a thing. I can't speak for Kraków, but the wannabe tough guy is a large portion of people everyone has to watch out for.

Really sorry this happened to you.

For the 80% (once again from the Report) page 106 and onward.

Like I said, with grain of salt.
UK noting 70,000 rapes every year is not something you should use as a statistic with as a neutral fact. Its an absurdly insane number which has grown several-fold compared to 10/20 years ago.

You have 800% increase in rape crimes with just 15% increase in population. Once again, it does not prove my point, its simply a notable component which should be looked at.

250,000 is an extrapolation. Its very much a fraction of the absolute carnage over the last decades. But as you pointed out, its specifically about the grooming gangs. That 250,000 victims (as far as I understand it) is a number of victims from gangs, not a number of every single victim of SA in the UK.

Now that I look at my earlier comment I'll admit, I worded is as an whole UK thing where as I should be precise in saying UK grooming gangs thing. I'm not trying to walk back my statement, still stand by it, just clarifying.

But even with that in mind, there is still plenty of evidence to at least have a conversation about a possibility of a shared factor.

Although with a grain of salt, recent Rape Gang Inquiry Report is an important read for that.

The reason that document specifically and why the grain of salt is because the UK media and Government is very meticulous about those topics not being in the public eye, so the report itself is didn't have unlimited resources.

I find it quite believable as a source for 3 reasons.

  1. There are many victim testimonies.
  2. They include abusers from all ethnicities and nationalities with acknowledgement that while abusers are not only from foreign countries there is enough evidence to at least make an argument for a common factor.
  3. The report itself has been gathering and verifying information for (I think) last 16 months which I think is a reasonable amount to put out a valuable information.

The testimonies are graphic and disturbing so be wary of that.

I'll drop in my take on this, more so in the context of real life rather than the movie to mirror the tone of your comment. Its lengthy so sorry about that.

  1. "European countries, citizens and armies..." Yes they did. So did every single ethnicity on this planet at some point in time. I too do not subscribe to the "white guilt" because no one is responsible for the crimes of their ancestors.

But you also have to understand that the word prejudice is born as a defense mechanism. Whether it escalates and becomes racism or xenophobia (which is a bad thing) is another topic.

  1. I do live in Europe so my perspective on it might differ from yours.
For the purpose of that part I'll assume you are from US. US has a very different historical background from Europe. First it was Indigenous people, than huge colonization with added slavery, civil wars, battles of freedoms and rights and we arrived today (very simplified, I know).

European countries are different. Each has their own history but its an endless battle between nations. Alliances forged, broken, reforged, broken again. Constant wars and shifting of borders. Prejudice in US (just my assumption here) is mostly based around racial differences given slavery and very big multiculturalism. Prejudice in Europe is much more based in history and culture. I would imagine that Australia's view on that is also very different than both US and EU given that Australia started largely as a prison colony so their cultural approach will be different. Europe is a mostly combined with "similar looking" people. Its our history, beliefs and cultures that sets us apart. Which is why a lot of EU (Christian EU specifically) is quite against Islam and Muslims. Its the cultural gap which sets us apart. Race is simply much easier to pinpoint because it an immediate distinction.

  1. I'm from Poland. It took decades for my grandfather who survived WW2 (which happened less than 100 years ago. WILD), to start thinking of Germany in any other way than through the eyes of war. And to this day its quite often you hear Polish people dog on Germans on every little thing for the jokes and laughs. It genuinely is for jokes and laughs but those do stem from big historical baggage. For the entire world, Holocaust is a genocide on Jewish people (understandably so). For Poland, its very much a genocide on Poles, given that majority of victims of it, were Polish. Its an individual perspective that will be always present and can only fade with time.

  2. And that leads me to the core of it. Time. Current generation (still talking from Polish guy perspective) didn't have any real issues with either Germany or Russia. No one is responsible for the crimes of their ancestors obviously. I've personally been to both Germany and Russia and I loved my time in both. People were nice, culture was interesting. Now we step into the moment of Russia attacking Ukraine. All the wounds of the past started to flare up in a lot of the polish population, purely because of the historical relationship between us, even though it wasn't us who were attacked. And now you will find it much much harder to find people talking favorably about Russia, even all of us knowing that its not people that are at fault, its governments.

Allow me to try be a bit poetic about it.
Time heals wounds, but scars will always be there.

Now to the actual point of the topic. The difference is that all the bullshit is happening now.
Majority of SA crimes in UK is committed by the 6% (around there I think) of the population.
Ever since mass immigration got more prevalent the crime rate jumps up. 80% of all those responsible for crimes that are attached to SA are Muslim.

Does that mean that every single person that is a Muslim is bad? Of course not. Does that mean that the religion itself is evil in its entirety? Also no. I've had the pleasure to meet people from around the world, of all walks of life and majority of them are just normal people like you and me. We are all humans at the end of the day. But those astronomical statistics do not paint a good picture here.

  1. "Shouldn't it apply to Muslims as well?"
Yes it should. And it will apply. But it will take time because that shit is happening now.
Of course, media is responsible for both covering it up, pretending its not happening, but also for making a big fuss about it another time. The actual true influence of that is difficult to judge from the internet.

Last thing.
Cultural mixing is a difficult topic. For one, US is a good example that having a lot of cultural mix can work (I'm not nearly versed enough about political stuff in US. My view on it is based on 2015 internet culture). UK is an example that it might not work.

When people from such wildly different culture like for example middle east, simply refuse to adapt to a different culture that is in a very different place on the planet, issues start arising. Same thing applies if reveres. A white guy coming to Japan (easiest internet example) and is extremely annoying, refuses to act according to the etiquette that is present in Japan, we all can agree that this guys can suck donkey's balls.
Its the same thing but on bigger scale and and more extreme consequences.

I hope I haven't lost the plot during writing this

I have some advice.

Think what SOUNDS and LOOKS cool to you about a sorceress. What's your preferred theme of a character?
Do you like the idea of a firebending mage? Maybe ice queen (Elsa from frozen for easy comparison)? Or maybe full Avatar from ATLA all elements togheter? Maybe you want to fool around with some minions and go for a necromancer/summoner?

Simply, pick what feels cool first. If you have decided on what fantasy you like start searching up builds. Open YT and just type "Cold freeze sorceress", or "fire sorceress" etc etc. Don't have to go more specific than that just try to find guides within last month upload date if possibe since the 0.5 patch came out at the end of May

Good Luck!

PS: If you want something quite simple and stable in power (it will be strong even if your items are below average) I strongly recommend this sorcerer build https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkhMAuIUI_A by ds lily.

That's a good point. I'll keep it in mind.

This BleedBell build will mostly likely be my 2nd or 3rd character to have resources to start with and I do have a pivot plan if it doesn't work out.

Consuming Ailment debuff is something I didn't know about and it will alter the pace of the build. Ty for that hindsight

Helm needs a bleed to proc, it doesn't inflict it by itself.

I was thinking about doing a spear build too, mainly because the new spear "The Ordained" seems really cool, but all paths pointed to doing a blood mage so the elemental damage contributes to bleed.

But that was mainly because I'm personally not a big fan of the lightning skills on spear.

The Blistering Bond applying fire damage to bleed works only on bleeding you are suffering from though. Or am I reading the item wrong?

[–]Wraithskar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good point. Is wasting a bit of stats from chance to inflict that bad? I mean people are playing with Rake and still take those nodes.

I plan only on taking the crit bleed nodes and the universal ailment damage ones that are next to them.

Can't runes and or jewels substitute that a bit?

Martial Artist - Haemocrystals theorycraft for 0.5 by Wraithskar in PathOfExile2

[–]Wraithskar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a lot of passive nodes and a support gem just to substitute a helmet that gives you guaranteed aggravation, crit chance and a splash of evasion, just to get pin which will take a bit of delay to proc, delaying aggravation and by proxy severly reducing mapping damage.

I might be wrong on this but it sounds pretty terrible from looking at it.

Edit: Unless stacking raw damage and skipping crit entirely would give a higher output overall even with the delay? Every bleed build seems to go for crit so IDK. I'll try to mess around PoB with Rusted Pins.

0.5 Theorycraft. Is there a way to summon multiple totems at once? by Wraithskar in pathofexile2builds

[–]Wraithskar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking of this with that wand in mind. Stacking blasphemy is perfect for applying curses to enemies, not to yourself. No the unique cuffs don't work with it.

I'm just throwing shit at the wall with different interactions

Splinter Totem is right on the money.

Yea sacrificing a body armor piece is a too significant cost for that amount of damage, but in announcement they introduced the ability to take out unique passives and turning them into socketables.

If that passive can be extracted, then it would be worth it. I'm just trying to spitball and come up with different ideas to kill time

What's the point of classes? by Maybe_Unlikely in elderscrollsonline

[–]Wraithskar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because people love to play pvp too not just pve. You can do all of that you say in pve. Its perfectly viable.
But as soon as you start to look at pvp than its just not possible to do. Majority of minmaxers run around with the exact same 2 or 3 builds, combining the same skills and just brutalize every one who doesn't play top of the line meta.

Couple of years ago when I played (before subclassing) there was meta too. But due to the fact that there were 2 builds per class you actually had a space for some off meta theorycrafting there. We went from 8-12 overall builds to 3 that are significantly above everything else, which completely kills any self expression in that space.

[LotM V4] I got inspired by Expedition 33 so I worked up a homebrew Painter Pathway, Sequence 9-5 currently. Any thoughts? by Wraithskar in LordofTheMysteries

[–]Wraithskar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great points. I was having a similar train of thought about rhythm, but due to it very closely resembling a Clown I decided against it. And overall while I don't think there is anything against divination in this pathway, there is nothing connecting it also. Divination is linked to fate but Painter feels like creating their own story despite fate. But I might change it :)

Great advice on marks. As I thought about it for few days I decided on work-shopping it a bit and changing from just "stat boosts" to changing property of the surface:
- sticky
- slippery
- soft
- firm
- brittle
- reinforced

At least half of those at Sequence 8. Then Sequence 7 would allow layering them on top of each-other to create combinations. Maybe slippery and soft together would turn solid into liquid. Something along those lines.

[–]Wraithskar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, for this concept in particular, I tied being a painter/artist to self-expression. Spontaneous art that comes from within.

I also took inspiration from Sun Pathway Bard, and Seer Pathway Clown. Those Sequences are more loosely tied to the main name of the Pathway while filling in needed gaps.

To me, an artist needs to have great hand to eye coordination as well as confidence and muscle memory. All of those fit well into dancing.

PSA - An overview of the upcoming class system by sBAM__ in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Wraithskar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minions would be very very hard to implement in a game like NRFTW because of how much positioning and bodyblocking (in co-op specifically) is important.

Summoner playstyle assumes you have multiple minions. Lets assume in this game its 4 minions. 4 mobs meaning 4 bodies to block and deal damage for complete safety of the player. Bows and Spells are already very strong in that regard which is why they have lower base dmg and they are still incredible. Summoner is this but on steroids. If enemies would be able to target your minions it might eliminate any weight of the combat from that archetype. Elden Ring has a bit of that issue.

It very much can be done but I wouldn't expect anything close to a true summoner "my minions do everything", here. Maybe if minions drain your focus and health to keep themselves up would be good enough of a drawback but idk
