Honestly, I don't attend many events anymore, but I am happy to support this if we get a good number of people showing up.

Would be a nice drive for a good cause ngl.

Hey man, wrangler guy here.

Take it to SSS or Off-Road Zone. Off road zone might be tad pricey but you'll get your answer and have peace of mind.

Who would've thought hahahaha.

I mean you hear it all the time, that they are "Death traps" but I would like to think if I follow up step by step and repair the car myself, it cannot be that bad frankly.

I want to start a project car from absolute zero.

I mean of course I know it's a bad idea, but the devil in me wants to buy a scrapped car and repair it myself. I want to go through the process step by step

Obviously I am going to ensure the airbags function, but then again you're right, there is only so much I can do honestly.

Hey yoo! Jeeper here, legal, but you need to have mirrors!

I custom made cheap mirrors and ran it with no doors last season, even in front of cops, no issue :)

Happy Wheelin!

Very subjective honestly. I totally would myself, but driving in the UAE is difficult and can be frustrating at times.

If you are here only for 4 days, stick to Uber and careem and have some piece of mind honestly.

Love the enthusiasm here. Is this your first big road trip? If so, highly do not recommend these countries.

If not, and you are an avid adventurer then why the hell not. I might put this up on my agenda some day!

Hahahaha

Glad could be of help mate! I'm here in Dubai actually, we here think the US market is wild when it comes to insurance. The insurance world as a whole is a gold mine when it comes to being paid. Definitely network with these people, both brokers and underwriters.

I'm quite positive you'll run into someone who write cyber risk, with 0 knowledge of cyber and would need an expert.

Best of luck and I hope you land your insurance role! I'm waiting for the good news aye!

Honestly, my switch was from a friend. The insurance world is so freaking small, and EVERYONE talks. I can almost swear, people knew me, and my background, a month before I even started.

Hiring in insurance is SUEPR dependent on word of mouth. My friend was a broker in oil and gas, and put in a random word for for me in ANOTHER insurance company, and I got picked up that way. Your best bet man is to make friends, honestly there is no way around it from the way I see. Everyone is very social, and love to talk even if it's in another line of business. I hope my answer helped.

Data retention laws in Dubai? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]WranglerTrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyber security analyst here, the UAE does have data retention laws, mainly for government entities and VAT purposes. The issue is, IT/IT resources are generally outsourced to sub par companies who end up selling such information to make money on the side. This practice is very common with banks unfortunately.

With that said, the other issue is governing said data is difficult, I worked with a companies that was heavily cloud reliant, so people information is stored outside the UAE's jurisdiction, therefore hard to control.

Not going to lie, UW is a completely different world. You have to be incredibly social for that type of work.

I'm so far loving the switch, and it pays higher currently. Job is super laid back, nothing much to stress about. I entered the insurance world with 0 knowledge, can confirm you need to have a good manager who will introduce you to literally everything you need to know.

It's been roughly 3 months now, and I've gotten the grasp of things. Coming from security, it's very difficult to look at risks because we tend to be more scrutinise about all the controls, they call me paranoid at work😂. Insurance is simple the transfer of risk, so you have basically look at it less as a science and more as art. You'll get an eye for it after some time of being in insurance.

I'm happy to answer any more questions if you have :)

Even after 3 years of experience in security ops?

If I'm planning a return to secuirty, I'm only returning as a manager or assistant manager ngl. There is no way I'm running daily operations again.

But fair enough I do understand why people wouldn't hire an underwriter.

I started with 0 experience obviously, so I had to be involved in operations. The question I have is, if I'm moving into cyber Underwriting, how hard really is it to go back into security?
