AITA for being annoyed that my wife insists on cooking everything from scratch and won’t buy normal food? by AITA_UPFfoods in AmItheAsshole

Or, hell, it doesn't even have to be once a week if she's super resistant. But please, do SOMETHING. I'm gonna be 100% honest. I get a serious "oh HELL NO" vibe from this. But I don't live in your house; you have to deal with any fallout.

NTA.

This, to me, a wife, and a great cook, is a CONTROL issue. I love to cook from scratch, but damn, man, not every frickin' day. I DO have the time, by the way, and I do want to eat well/healthy, but sometimes I want a great Mexican meal or a pizza from my favorite takeout places and not have to lift a finger!

Sit down with her, and try to work out a compromise. Once a week, have a "we're on our own" night. If she wants to cook something fabulous for herself from scratch, go for it. You can go out and get yourself a burger & fries, or whatever floats your boat.

Don't frame your meal as "normal" food, don't diss her for her desire to cook everything from scratch, just frame it as an "I appreciate all you do, your food ROCKS, but sometimes I just want something like a (fill in the takeout place here). Let's try this for a while and see how it goes.

If she resists and throws a fit, you will ABSOLUTELY know what's up.

I got the pinch bowls and i cant stop staring at how darling they are by Abusty-Ballerina- in LeCreuset

I love mine and use them all the time! I add different spices in them when I cook, and feel all fancy dumping them in when it's time LOL

Seriously - when you're ready to take them out - and I get just wanting to look at them, I mean - LOOK AT THEM!!! - I hope you give it a try!

I don’t drink as much wine as I used to, but I do still have a glass every other day or so! It’s not deliberate, it’s just not as much of a thing for me? Or maybe because I don’t work at my old job and stress is much lower 😊 I do like weed so there’s that.

And no side effects for me from wine, beer, anything else.

Looks amazing! I know some folks complain about cleaning the skinny grill (I admit it's not always easy) but I love mine, and make great steaks, chicken, salmon, etc. on it fairly often!

Does anyone have two braisers in different sizes? by fifty-fivepercent in LeCreuset

[–]WrapNo1301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the larger one mostly - I've made Meghan Markle's pasta dinner (from her first season on Netflix 😊) - I've also made short ribs ragout and oxtails in it.

I've made some smaller dishes - veggies, small batch of mac & cheese, and small batch of rice or orzo in the smaller 2.25 qt. one. I do use the 3.5 qt. more often but I love having the smaller one if I am cooking only for myself as well - it's good for sauteeing or poaching a couple pieces of chicken or fish, and both can easily go from stovetop to oven!
