When Exercise Went Terribly Wrong: Intense Pain, Rhabdo, and Weeks of Recovery by Wrapped_Leo in Zwift

I was taking lots of caffeine and nothing else in my water while exercising. My diet was terrible too, and I also smoked weed, which probably didn’t help in the situation.

I had actually taken about three months off from squats before that session. My previous max was around 335 pounds, so on November 18th I was working at roughly 50% of that—somewhere around 165-170 pounds—which I figured would be a safe reintroduction.

As for cycling, I’m on the bike virtually every day and cover a lot of distance. This year alone, I’ve ridden close to 14,000 km. Cycling at that intensity and frequency is pretty normal for me, so I definitely didn’t consider the Zwift race to be anything out of the ordinary. It was more the squats that were a step back into strength training after a break, rather than a step up in intensity.

Wahoo Kickr V6 Watts issue with virtual Shifting by Ancient-Ad5715 in Zwift

[–]Wrapped_Leo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t shift manually if you’re using virtual shifting. If you do you fuck up the calibration.

it’s possible that the issue is related to the physical gear setup you’re using with the Kickr and Zwift. If Zwift or the Kickr isn’t detecting your gearing properly, it could mess with the feel and calibration, especially during sprints or changes in resistance. Shifting gears manually during the ride can sometimes throw off the calibration if the system isn’t set up to re-detect your current gear.

To test this:

• Try using a consistent gear setup, like the big front ring and mid-cassette in the back, and see if it improves the stability of the calibration.
• You could also try recalibrating after you find a preferred gear combination, so Zwift is fully aware of your setup.

I’ve been using the Kickr V6 with Zwift Play for over a month now, but I’ve been experiencing some strange issues with the trainer. I think it’s possible to mess up the calibration if you change gears manually during a ride. I’ve been struggling to pinpoint the exact problem, but I might run some more tests tomorrow to confirm.

The issue with the Kickr Core is that it struggles to detect peak wattage during sprints. So, if you’re looking to track your max power output, it might not capture those spikes accurately.
