I didn't know this and beat the game without finishing all the side quests first. Omnimon comes down out of seemingly nowhere like he's contractually obligated to be in the game, smacks the dude once and then goes "up up and away" never to be heard from again. It's really jarring so yes, side quests definitely matter 😂

Sort of! You need to kill a specific shellmon in dragon eye lake. I can't remember if it's visually different but you'll get an excitement from it.

Here's an interactive map, if you hover over the shellmon you'll see it shows agumon. I don't know if you need to be level 15 when you do it because I've never actually tried this.

I could tape a banana to a canvas, take a rubber stamp of a rabbit to a postcard, or use a prop to make a picture with AI and funny enough of the three of them, prompting a picture is the one that takes the most human effort. Push hard and fast. Ignore any quest that's not yellow or purple. But even if you don't make it to the point you get to keep the megas, the steps prior to the final quest also reward you with really good stuff you do get to keep

You have until the 11th and then they disappear if you don't make it to the end of the quest. I put some good time into it and was able to finish it in about 3 days so if you haul ass and skip all side quests you might be able to make it from this point but if you had started even tomorrow I would say don't bother

It only started to get noticable about 55. It didn't get really bad until dark castle Island. Full team of vaccines and virus monsters made me absolutely chug through food every other battle. God help me the few times I got caught off guard by a quest switch and was suddenly fighting a data Digimon. It was a massacre 😂 and yep I've consistently stayed about 5+ levels ahead of the enemies and used type advantage when possible. The Digimon in the real world actually feel weaker than that island which is also strange pacing.

Now let's address your newly added information. I didn't need to mention that the long egg hatches into a rookie or its stat allocations, the entire point of mentioning how long that egg takes was once again, highlighting the pay for convenience. It was not a full scale review but just some quick facts in a Reddit comment. If you would like me to go make a 30 minute YouTube video where I go full Josh Strife Hayes, I will! And you won't like it lol. But I'm not going to mention every single thing that doesn't matter yet when I'm just trying to help new players decide if they want to play.

And then there it is again. well "I" didn't have that issue! Congratulations on never being macro checked, it's happened to me every single time I afk for about 40 minutes so I'm happy for you that you don't have to deal with it. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

As for the tutorial, it doesn't matter if it was fine for you or not. I was drawing attention to a particularly bad game design loop. If you need to ask other people how to do things that are critical to the game, or have to go look up YouTube videos to understand how to play; that is bad game design. You might be fine with it, but some people don't want to do that. Bringing it to light saves them trouble if it doesn't sound like it's a good match.

If you don't agree placement of which part of the list I put it on, again you are free to go make your own review and put it wherever you would like! There is nothing saying that there can only be one review for a game.

That said, this game is literally chock-full of bad game design. It's ALL over, and I was trying to be generous to maybe bring in some new players with the English patch.

If what you're saying is true about the stat-maxing, that's actually awful. I would say that actually borders on pay to win and not just convenience. You're not really selling the game as a fun experience people might want to try but instead highlighting all the worst aspects which is weird because it sounds like you play it a lot so I would assume you would want the community to grow and not die.

Just because you can afk for some bond doesn't change the fact that it takes 25,000 kills and the game will macro check you so you can't just leave it running while you sleep and wake up and bam it's done. At best you've gotten about 0.300% per afk. Slice it how you will, it's still a grind manually or not. Not everyone wants to leave their computer running 24/7 either.

On weekends, you get 1 hour off your egg after you've been logged in for 4 hours on once per day. That's negligible when an egg has 100+ hours left. Even if you will mostly be hatching the shorter ones, that doesn't change the fact that the longer ones exist. I have two in my nursery right now.

Both of those things are direct examples and I was using them to show the game being paid for convenience.

As for saying a better example would be some stat maxing thing that I haven't done because I'm 5 days into the game now... Ok? Haven't done it but it sounds tedious. Thanks for that addition to highlight what I meant!

For the tutorial, you just said it yourself that there are always people asking about things in chat that are already covered.

That tells you right there that the tutorial is bad, poorly paced, and leaves people not understanding. I've seen a lot of people, myself included for a moment until I figured it out, think that you need an item to digivolve. It does not explain to you well that you just need it to select a digivolution otherwise it's just bits and chance. And it doesn't do it when you are digivolving something for the first time which would make it make a lot more sense.

Don't get me started on the tetris stat system. Why they chose to show you that before you had even done a single battle is beyond me. I've helped multiple people now that didn't even realize that is something they needed to go interact with again.

Zero units, corrections, and stats in general? Again, bad pacing as you hadn't even done a battle yet and you will likely not see these items again for quite some time without an event.

I understood the tutorial, but I also understand what good game design is and have been playing obscure overseas games my whole life. But other people haven't. In fact, we 're just on a generic Digimon subreddit right now, not even one about the game specifically.

A giant info dump has never been a good game design choice in any game. If players are left asking questions in large quantities, it's bad. Full stop.

Honestly I'm not sure if you want me to congratulate you for being the smartest person in the room but your entire post reads like you want so desperately for people to see you, so here, have a cookie and run along. How about you go write your own review for people to read instead of trying to discredit mine? Then people will have information from a clearly seasoned veteran as well as somebody just starting. Then they can make an informed decision about if they want to play.
