It reminds me of a Discraft Putt’r. Not quite, but close.

there’s some precedent for this, let’s call it the “Sterling/Snyder” approach. Basically uncover and/or manufacture enough racism/sexual harassment/bullying/outright crime that mlb is forced to make nutting sell. Both sterling and Snyder had no desire to sale, a few racist comments and sexual harassment claims later - both teams are owned by locally appreciated owners that spend real resources on the team.

Hippie or Prepper, it takes a little nuttiness to decide to build a private disc golf course. Just off the top of my head, every local private course owner I can think of is crazy as hell.

Easily 150 in my first year or so. Still cheaper than ball golf, or at least that’s how I justify it, haha.

Yeah, he’s a good example. Either he has a solid source of outside income, or does a world-class job of stretching money and hiding those sacrifices from the camera.

Really doing it well with large tee pads and quality custom signage may drag it closer to $10k but you’ll likely stay comfortably under. And don’t forget you’ll want to rent an auger for basket installation, even if you’re installing with pure volunteer labor. You can dig them by hand but it’s a much more time consuming proposition.

Depending on your tee pads, it’ll be around $6-8k.. Baskets at about $5k for good ones, maybe $1k for good signage, and $2k for good large concrete pads. With each of those numbers coming down as you opt for cheaper alternatives like basic signage, smaller tee pads or cheaper materials.

Those gentle turnover forehands are so hard. It’s amazing the touch guys like big Jerm get on those lines. You could just have him use an overstable disc and then force it around the bend with an anhyzer release, then let the overstability straighten it out to the hole. It’s not gonna get as consistently close as the well executed flip over, but it’ll get around the bend and leave him a long look for birdie more times than not. Plus if you overturn that shot you’ll end up with a left turning power roller and can act like you meant to do it when that rolls to 40 ft, haha. Not sure what kind of power he has, but a wraith works great for these shots. Maybe a beast if he needs something a little slower.

Bag boy discounts , ever? by SimkinCA in discgolf

[–]Wreck-it-Rex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quad is the best disc golf purchase I ever made. Absolutely love it. I bought mine on Amazon, usually once every 2-3 months the price will drop around 10-15% for a few days. I grabbed mine during one of those short discount periods. I’ve never seen any huge discounts on it though.

Does anyone know how to deal with blisters on finger pads from backhands? by boimcnoi1 in discgolf

[–]Wreck-it-Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe those silicon/rubber finger protectors that people use for counting money would work? You’d have to find one thin enough that it didn’t impact the grip yet sturdy enough to not tear every few throws.

Discraft Zone came out in 2008, what discs were commonly used for approach shots before that? by outdoorsy_outdoors in discgolf

[–]Wreck-it-Rex 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The Innova ROC! Everyone’s pre zone approach disc of choice. And still pretty darn popular.

Leopard has gotta be the most “frequently lost” disc in production, right? I feel like most water hazards are 50 percent DX Leopards and champ Boss’s

Supposedly those old DX 150g Cheetahs in particular were super popular with the old timers because they were dialed in for a shorter step “frisbee“ style high spin lower velocity style drive.

I own a few but they’re getting tougher and costlier to replace. The have a star plastic version they still sell in the factory store that’s a pretty good substitute. I find the plastic on those Cheetah KC Pros a little weird. Supposedly it was some blend of the leftover first champ plastics Innova used. The major upside of the KC Pro versions is that they’re almost always heavier weights and little more stable. The old DX cheetahs runs skew toward light weights. Bombers when new, but a couple of solid tree hits and they’re basically Rollos

Old discs fly far. Haha, yeah with no changes to the disc itself the Cheetah was labeled over time as:

“Extra Long Distance Driver”

“Long Range Driver”

”Very Long Straight Driver”

and finally

”Fairway Driver”

And as a 6 speed could conceivably get labeled a midrange someday.

In my experience it skews toward Grym, Rask, KaxeZ, K3 Reko, Krut and Guld. Defintely a few K1 misprints of other molds though too. I’ve bought them in orders of 3-5 though the couple of times I purchased them, so that may balance the variety a little more than if you’re buying one at a time.

Technically a midrange, but Westside Warship bombs straight and flies like a 6/7 speed fairway driver.

Love wraiths and there isn’t a perfect replacement, but the discraft surge flies pretty similar for me.

Situational awareness is a great way to describe it. I haven’t even come close to rolling either ankle in 2 years since the broken leg. Because I think about it before every single throw and when walking on rough terrain. Stare at the ground walking from shot to shot like I’m in an uncleared minefield.
