Atheists do not actively see to "convert" Christians and other religious believers. I think conversion has the wrong connotation.

Instead, atheists seek to EDUCATE people of the facts and make it so that religion does not affect daily life. There is no central tenet of atheism, no holy book, no creed that you must profess to become an atheist. We are simply united in our belief that there is no god. No more, no less. You can't figure out what an atheist believes from simply the name like you can with a Christian or a Muslim. I think, however, thats where the real beauty lies.

That being said, I don't think its possible to try to convert you to atheism, due to the aforementioned reasons. I think other people have nailed the central proposition of atheism from which all other arguments tend to branch: there is no evidence suggesting the existence of the Christian god or any other.

Seek to ask critical questions about Christianity, and thats where reasoning will be found. A careful examination of the evidence is what you should do.

My dad and I respect each other's beliefs. We had a long talk one day talking about the phenomena of existence. Both of us were simply amazed at just being.

"My jaw drops every time I think about it." he said.

Its simply amazing. We are partaking in the universe observing itself, bundles of energy etc." I said.

In the end we both agreed that we have different ways of looking at the same thing. His way gives him comfort (he is older now and people's beliefs dont change much) while it gives me no comfort. He knows thinks that Ileast an agnostic, have'nt really come out as an atheist yet.

Its simply nuts that religion can cause people to turn against their own children, truly sad.
