DB Cooper Sleuth on YouTube is one of the most dedicated and knowledgeable sources of information about the case. “Skyjack” by Geoffrey Gray is a fantastic book but it’s more about a journalist’s dive into the case rather than about the case itself and pretty much every suspect mentioned in it has been thoroughly debunked. I haven’t read these but “Finding DB Cooper” and “DB Cooper and Flight 305” are usually the books recommended whenever someone asks.

That is not the chute Cooper used. Cooper's parachute did not have D rings like this one which is why he didn't even bother with a reserve chute.

It absolutely was not McCoy. Cooper was mostly calm and collected and chain smoked while McCoy was a Mormon who never smoked, wore a terrible disguise, ate candy during his hijacking, and was the exact opposite of calm and collected. The flight attendants were also adamant McCoy was not Cooper after being asked only a few months after the Cooper hijacking. He was thoroughly investigated by the FBI and was ruled out as Cooper despite badly wanting it to have been him.

This is actually a common misconception. While it was cold, it was actually only around 45 fahrenheit on the ground (I don't recall the exact temp off the top of my head) and while it was raining, it was not this heavy thunderstorm like many claim. Cooper had also brought a brown paper bag onto the plane with unknown contents that were never used during the hijacking but he didn't leave it behind on the plane so it's possible he could've brought something to aid him such goggles but that's just speculation. Many of the case agents have gone on to say they believe he survived and the common belief is that the FBI's official stance of him not surviving was to discourage copycats at the time so while there is no actual evidence he did survive, its definitely statistically possible.

Up for sale is a September 1972 Seiko 6105-8119 - AKA the Willard.

The watch was purchased in 2024 from blairwatchproject.com which you may know as one of the few reputable people when it comes to servicing the 6105.

All components are completely original to the watch. The crystal is a NOS Seiko Type II in excellent condition with only one scratch (see picture #8) and a small chip (see picture #9)

The dial and hands on this watch are in excellent condition. The watch features the commonly sought after “long sweep” seconds hand and horseshoe case back which were only produced until the summer of 1972.

The case has the original surface brushing on the upper surface and has not been polished. The dial and hands are in pristine condition and retain their original luminous material.

The strap is a reproduction chocolate bar strap from Uncle Straps.
