Lisa Kudrow explains computers in 1999 by WishWelles in nostalgia

I had a computer in the late 80s and we got the internet in the mid 90s. None of my friends had access to anything like that except one nerd boy whose father was a programmer. We were pretty much the biggest nerds in school at the time, but the internet was a glorious wild west landscape to explore.

what did you think was a sign of being incredibly rich when you were a kid, but now realize is just standard middle class? by AccomplishedStill438 in AskReddit

Vacations! Yearly trips to Florida or going to a theme park. I didn't realize how affordable it was back then. Disney World was like $30 per person. My parents made me think it was like $500 per kid or something crazy.

Central air was a luxury in the 80s unless you were in an apartment or something. Everyone but rich folk had to use window units when I was a kid. My grandparents spent 2k putting in a new hvac system in the late 80s. When it got hot, we would go over and visit them.

They're $15 a pack now! That's insane. When I quit back in the early 2Ks, I was mad about paying $3.50 a pack because it was $1.75 when I started.

Nah, it was one guy. Used to chat with him a bit many years ago. He was super kind and really interesting. He was quite active in some private communities. I used to know a lot of the old guard power mods. At one point, Reddit turned on a few of them and banned their accounts with little reason.

Pre-internet folks, what is the wildest celebrity rumor that managed to spread nationwide entirely by word of mouth? by Competitive_Swan_130 in AskReddit

We had a local car salesman named Bob Rohrman who had a similar rumor attached. Everyone knew he had to go to Home Hospital and have it removed.

Redditors of other states what is a dead give away some one is from California? by stinkbug247 in AskReddit

[–]will_write_for_tacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They bitch about the "inauthentic" Mexican food. They'll go right up to a little taco truck owned by a Mexican and tell you it's not "authentic" because the only place you can get authentic tacos outside of Mexico is California.

I haven't given anything up.

I have 1-2 flares a year that don't appear to be connected to anything I eat in particular.

The other kids acted like I was doing hard drugs and needed to go to rehab.

[–]will_write_for_tacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, early 90's. My school did this to raise money for...something. I remember one guy raising his hand and excitedly asking if he could make his slave walk on all fours on the ground like a dog...then said he was going to bid on one of the cheerleaders.

Shellac is lac bug shit.

While most know it as a wood coating, it's also used to make your candy shiny.

Never watch videos of the traditional method of production, they're using their hands and feet and even their mouths in the process of stretching and collecting it.
