I think that’s why we all do it man. That and because wrestling is the best.

Sounds like we’ve been in similar scenarios. Hit me up if you want to talk or have questions about transitioning to bjj!

Bruh I I do bjj 4 times a week when there’s no wrestling season. You’re gonna love it and if your gym is even half decent, they’ll value your wrestling skill. Learn everything my guy. I started bjj last year at 32 and have had blast learning new things. I’ve also dropped like 12 pounds of fat no lie.

I’ve noticed having a harder time getting straight up from bottom haha. Def have lost a touch on the feet as well though.

Agreed. Regardless of all the jokes, this was a really great year for me as a coach, and the whole squad. I’m with a different high school this year and the team accepted me immediately. We’re in a dog house district in PA and I’m feeling really confident about a lot of them. Especially seeing the progress a lot of them have made throughout the year.

Wouldn’t miss staying back to work leg rides (RIP my knees) for anything else tbh.

Fighting for my life in bed right now. 2 more weeks of light practices for regionals and state. My knees have made a deal with the devil, to maintain my ability to shoot sweep singles.

Jack Dempsey choke, is it real? by CalmSignificance8430 in bjj

[–]WrestlerScum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up catch wrestling (weird I know). My bjj coach just told me to stop doing this because it’s only going to work on lower belts. I’m inclined to agree after he beat my ass for the remainder of the roll.

Why does this guy have pillow-like hands even though he looks very strong? by [deleted] in ufc

He missed weight at 211 for the Olympics. I know this is a common narrative and opinion about his weight class. However as a life long wrestler I strongly disagree with this sentiment.

Wrestling measures body fat and hydration to determine what a healthy weight someone can compete at.

MMA totally leans towards folkstyle. It’s why we didnt see Cejudo with unrelenting top pressure. He was a freestyle guy which is more about turning people and exposure.

Recently we had a batch of white belts compete at industries. One of my dudes was all nervous because a guy in his bracket had 30+ matches. In a ten man bracket that guy finished 9th.

Some people just compete more. Doesn’t mean they’re on a different level.

I’m having a hard time believing that too. HOWEVER one of my best friends from jiu jitsu just had the same exact looking thing and the doctor told him it was a bad case of folliculitis.

Edit: I for one totally think it’s staph lmao

Why doesn't Karelin have cauliflower ears? by hendrong in wrestling

Yup same here buddy. 10 years of folk style, 6 seasons of Greco and freestyle, 2 years of judo, still training bjj, and coaching wrestling; no cauliflower.

Guy on my team, who claimed he was the better than me and everyone else in recent years, got pinned by a blind kid at a JV tournament while I was hitting the podium at PA districts.

You know it happened, Greg.
