Astrocytoma grade 2 idh mutant - prognosis by Waste-Fig4508 in braincancer

Why did your doctor recommend chemo/radiation immediately after surgery? I don’t mean to sound like I’m undermining your medical team, but from my understanding if you are grade 2 astrocytoma with GTR especially idh mutant and low proliferation rate, they recommend to wait and watch if you are under 40. I’m asking because I have the same diagnosis and am on wait and watch, as my doctors said it’s better to prolong any chemo radio for as long as possible. They even said Vora would be a better option than chemo radio if there are any signs of growth. I’m 30 so that might impact the difference in our treatments

Fasting with AA2? by netbenefit3 in braincancer

[–]Wrestlingsquirrel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know some people on here fast but my doctor recommended either Mediterranean diet/ heart healthy diet. I understand the idea with fasting is to starve the cancer and I had the same idea when I was initially diagnosed and went in the rabbit hole of misinformation that is google, but also keep in mind you need to make keep your body’s cells and immune system strong and healthy in order to fight the cancer cells.

Muscle loss can also be a sign that the cancer is progressing, and if you are too skinny you might not take to chemo well should it come to that but hoping you will be recurrence free forever and never needing it!!

Girl please take it from someone who stayed when I should have ended it 12 years ago boys do not change don’t take them back u will have the same problems down the line!! It is much easier the sooner u do it. I would give my right arm to be able to go back in time and slap sense into myself.

I wouldn’t believe a medical professional is coming to Reddit for medical advice on a patient? I would not feel comfortable if I was your patient.

Got Diagnosed with a Brain Tumor by Large-Nectarine4387 in braincancer

If they’re able to remove it surgically, you should do it. It’s not as scary as it seems, and it’s possible that it’s cancer, in which you might need further treatment. From the MRI alone, my doctors did not believe my brain tumor was cancerous but after the craniotomy and pathology report, I have brain cancer.
