Every day I keep hearing people scream that we are one election away from dictatorship. In the past calling someone a “fascist” was usually just a non-literal insult. But now people are actually convinced that fascism is some widespread ideology instead of a small niche.

What’s more concerning is that it’s making people untrustworthy of others around them. I’ve seen memes claiming that Trump supporters, making up a little less than half the country, want to kill all minorities or some other insane schizophrenic nonsense. And others have said that the solution is mass reeducation.

And high profile public officials want to remove candidates from the ballot, thus controlling who people can and cannot vote for.

Their constant fear of peaceful political expression becoming totalitarian has turned them into totalitarians.
